6 Teen Girls Arrested After Video Taping 'Beat Down' For MySpace

www.memphisrap.com

A cheerleader and her friends in Lakeland, Florida beat up a fellow student after seeing an alleged 'trash talking' MySpace post.

The Polk County Sheriff's office have released the video of the teenager being beaten. According to Sheriff Grady Judd, the 16 year-old teen was beat unconscious in a bedroom and then later awoke on a couch in the living room to more beating and screaming. The fight happened on March 30th at 6124 West Calendar Court in Lakeland.

"When they were in a holding cell, they were all laughing," Judd stated. "One of the teens arrested, who is a cheerleader, asked, 'Does this mean I'm going to miss cheerleading practice tomorrow?' The others were cutting up and said, 'It looks like we won't be going to the beach this weekend.'"

This is very heartless action. We are seeing more and more of this kind of action on the internet. I am almost certain that the idea to film the beat-down, actually motivated the beat-down to a higher level.

The moral of humanity is taking an ugly step backwards, when we should be on a continual step forward.

"That is animalistic behavior. It's pack mentality. They lured her there to beat her," added Sheriff Judd.

All of the focus on violence and the glorification of it will bring us all back to our animal instincts. And I'm not sure animal instinct and our present day technology are a good match.

I know I am starting to sound cliche, but what happen to positive influences?

I will post the video but I MUST warn you it is SHAMEFUL & GRAPHIC

Find the 'Queen Bee' and pluck her wings. This is a social behavior that has been reappearing as an escalating dynamic. Sadly, Even young (really young) girls go through this patterned social behavior (thought thankfully not tending towards violence).

Ask you third and fourth grade teachers (especially females - who are more sensitive to the queues) this pattern of behavior seems to occur spontaneously. I agree it needs to be stopped, but I hope we don't waste a lot of time chasing down 'red herrings' like rap music and pathetic yellow journalism. Also, parents need to reconsider how they 'engage' their kids about this - and be prepared - most of these 'ladies' will claim they 'had' to participate' or face being ostracized, or worse.

Well, if they find out that they are going to jail, I hope they have a live web feed to show the world their faces. That will be a moment to capture. Being in jail is something that no one looks forward to, especially these young ladies.

They had so much potential, and they just threw it all away for something so heinous as revenge. They deserve whatever they get, I think.

This was a disgustingly brutal and premeditated attack on a girl that didn't fight back! These girls lured the victim to the house, then launched an unprovoked assault. They knocked her unconcious, when she awoke and tried to leave they prevented her. Isn't that false imprisonment? They could even face a charge of attempted murder. I hope the Judge throws the book at them!

I saw this on the News and they interviewed one of the attackers mothers. The mother attempted to justify her daughters actions by blaming the victim saying " The victim wrote stuff on her MySpace page and it's her fault she can't back up what she said".

So, apparently this fight was the result of something posted on the Internet.

While I agree people shouldn't talk crap if they don't want trouble, that doesn't excuse beating someone up & breaking the law.

I can't believe the mother said that on National TV and no wonder her daughter is going to jail. With a mother like that for a teacher, she will no doubt have problems beyond this.

I couldn't agree more.

I saw this last night on some talk show (can't remember the name, I was channel surfing at the time). The host was interviewing the mother of the victim as well as the Police chief handling the case.

The police chief responded to the mother of one of the assailants as 'someone looking for their 10 minutes of fame'. Apparently the daughter doesn't even live with the mother anymore and currently resides at the Grandmothers house, where the attack took placel.

Its hard for children to grow up with good values of life when they have someone like that in their corner.

Start throwing the book at them.

I agree....the parents of these girls should also be held responsible for their behavior since they are minors.

It is simply inexcusable to respond to someone's words on the internet with a violent attack! No matter what was said...the other girls had every right to talk trash back, and if the first girl had posted something that was a lie, then the other girls might have had cause for civil action. But there is no excuse for luring a defenseless girl into an ambush. None. Those girls are pure trash, and they act like it! So did the Mom on TV. I saw her interview and could not believe that she tried to put the blame on the girl for posting stuff on the web to start with!

I will bet any amount of money that those girls come from broken homes where they do not have a good father figure (or mother apparently).

Thanks Jerry Springer, for sensationalizing this crap so that more dumb rednecks think they will get famous for being stupid!

Wooooooohoooooooo, y'all, watch this!

It appeared that after this incident that the girls main concern was whether or not they would miss cheer leading practice. Hopefully a judge will come up with a punishment that will help these girls understand their actions from the victim's point of view.

This sort of thing is getting crazy rediculous. I was at a movie theater last year watching SAW IV and everytime someone was tortured or murdered a full row of teenagers behind us laughed hystericly. I failed to see any humor in it whatsoever. I was actually discusted by the movie and more so their response that we left the movie half way through. I remember when I was younger and people actually screamed at scary movies.

TV news is reporting that the girls - and at least one of the boys where were guarding the door - have been charged with various felonies. Assault and kidnapping for sure.

Toss all the pincesses into jail.

The photo of the eight teenagers arrested is disturbing. The have flat, vacant stares like sharks. These aren't kids, they're predators, and need to be treated as such.

The really disturbing part is they committed this crime with the explicit purpose of posting it on the internet. Didn't they realize it could be used as evidence against them, or did they even care?

They should all be tried as adults, and given an introductory course into the real world of criminal justice.

Yup, a case could be made for assault, battery, kidnapping and probably much, much more.

What gets me is that the victim did not fight back and tried to leave several times.

It's disgusting. To think that they filmed it, and then posted it on their myspace makes the act even more heinous.

It's not the video games that are to blame though, it's the fact that morality is not being taught at home anymore, nor is compassion. What a sad world it is becoming.

I agree this was all premeditated, the thing that really got me was that one mother trying to substanciate theses girl's beating the one girl,I do hope they do some real time in prison,in there be a bunch of big mean women who will do the same to them, sick they showed no remorse,if one of my kids was involved in something like this they better hope cops get them before I did

I hope this is made as an example and these punk girls and the lookouts are prosecuted to the max. I hope their life on this earth is hell for them. These girls are nothing but pathetic cowards who deserve the same beating as the victim. I would of loved to have seen the girls friend's, parents and other's who give a damn, go over to that house and just start pounding them they way they did her. Unfortunately the parents of the girl that was beaten have more courage than any of the girls and their parents for keeping their composure and not doing something I would have done to those monsters.

This is what happens in a society where half the marriages end in divorce, and what parents that do stay together both have to work to make ends meet, leaving their kids to be raised by strangers and TV!

Thanks, consumerism! All we have to do is work, spend money, and consume, and all will be well, the government tells us...We are all entitled to everything!

Is anyone surprised that stuff like this happens when most of the country's adult population are selfish morons? (excluding posters here, of course, lol!)

It was a big problem here in UK too, I'm not sure about now.

It's like the whole happyslap craze, where they slap a random person, but into another level where they beat them to the ground, sometimes to death.

Talked trash on the Myspace page. What a joke.

Clearly this group of girls is just an insecure, drama queen, daddy's girl bunch. The slightest thing said is so damaging to their fragile emotions that they attempt to turn it into a positive situation by showing off in front of their friends.

I mean, really. Talking trash on Myspace? Are you kidding me? I've had people threaten to kill me on Myspace and I laughed it off. What ever happened to just laughing it off?

IT - IS - TEXT! JUST - TEXT!

This you see here. It's not real. It's just text. Typing. LALALALKFOIFDS.

It's a good thing I'm not in charge of the legal system because my punishments would be considered 'harsh' by our legal standards. I'd throw them in prison for at least 10 years for this just because it disgusts me so much. I'm not sure what they'll get for it, but the more the better.

I think the parents of the six girls and the lookout boys need to pay the hospital bill for this girl and whatever else she and her parents need. I hope this is something mentioned in the courts or the parents ask for. They need to be tried as adults and imprisoned for awhile and then we'll see just how tough they are.

The link in the OP isn't working for me for some reason. Here's an alternative link if others are having the same problem: www.cbsnews.com...

Apparently they all got felonies. I'm glad. That's what they deserve.

The mother of one of the teens saying that this girl "provoked" the teens is an idiot. So, let me get this straight, this girl that got beat up, Lindsay, intentionally provoked them knowing she would get beat up, potentially seriously hurt, and who knows, maybe even killed, and doesn't even fight back, all so she could get them put in jail?

I love how people try to twist things. "It's her fault because she talked trash" blah blah blah. Who told the teens to respond with violence? If you're too immature to ignore it, then you talk trash about her. But giving her a concussion and possibly permanent seeing and hearing damage is completely uncalled for and inexcusable.
