HI,

I've just been looking into the Freemasons, my dad was a member and just past away so was trying to find out a bit about them. They seem pretty decent people to me and I don't really buy into all this stuff about them. But they do seem to have some connections to groups who are possibly a bit wayward.

Anyhow I found these guys (the weavers) and wandered who they are? Can anyone help???

Might help if you had a link to which Weavers you're talking about. Google seems to indicate it's a pretty common name. The folk band? The Dutch women's society? Some other craft guild?

Sorry my bad. I know what you mean I've also typed them into Google and got all those other groups. I don't think the folk band are connected to the Freemasons but you never know

The link is en.wikipedia.org...

I'm not sure that I understand. How do you believe that the Cathars went astray? If my recollection is correct, the Catholic church tried to eradicate them after branding them as heretics.

In any case, I don't recall hearing of any credible connection between the Cathars and Freemasonry.

From my understanding of what I've been finding out.. the Cathars have been linked to the founding of the Masons.
You're right I don't know how credible this link is between the Cathars and the Masons but from what I've found there does seem to be some connection between them both.

I wasn't saying the Cathars are the wayward link to the Masons more other groups connected around them.

I have a limited knowledge of the Cathars but I don't believe I've ever heard of the Cathars link to Freemasonry.

Could you please site your sources?

It's just chatter that I've been hearing about this link, I have to admit I've not read it in any books, hence my earlier comment of them not being credible.

Do you know much about the weavers though? This is a group which I found some information about amongst my Dad's stuff and they seem very directly linked to the Cathars, this is what lead me in the direction of the Cathars being linked to the Freemasons.

hi caspar,

im sorry to hear about your father.
i know a little about the weavers, from when i did research into the weaver, illumiati and freemasons.

from what i know the weavers are a totally independent group that are NOT linked to freemason or anyone else whatsoever. the only bit of info thats availble online that i could find was www.theweavercode.com ... but i would be careful what you believe. and always ask for sources.

that's an intersting link but seems largely to attribute a connection between the cathars and the weavers. nothing about a connection with the freemasons, which doesn't seem to exist...
