VATICAN CITY — Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said Sunday. "For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican's yearbook.

This is a frightning thought. Don't forget about all of the conversions. The article contributes the rise in Islam to the higher birth rate, but fails to mention the vast amount of conversions from other religions to Islam.

How big can the religion get?

Wow. I didn't even know that Roman Catholicism was the largest religion (prior to this). I thought that would have been one of the eastern religions (based on population sizes).

Fascinating stuff. However, a few questions.

'Christianity' is a religion comprised of many different sects. Roman Catholicism is only a sect of Christianity. So, it looks like it is still in 'the lead' if we take it like that. We also have to be fair: If Christianity gets broken up in an effort to show Islam is the biggest religion, did they take into consideration the sects of Islam?

There are over two billion Christians (total) and over one billion Muslims (total). Numbers don't really bother me but it does look like some facts were skewed or forgotten to make this fit.

I don't understand why this would be frightening to you.

People should be allowed to believe in whatever they want to. Nobody has told you that you have to convert.

This just means less money into the pocket of the Vatican!

This means nothigbecause God has prophecied that many will convert when God sends the sign of the end times what that is I don't know but many muslims will convert to Christ...

To Enthralled..

you do know many many bishops have existed in the vatican that could care less about money. Not everybody in the vatican has been a hypocrite....they would be called saints..

So are they Bishops or Saints, or do you mean they are Bishop Saints?

Interesting. Do you have any specific ones I could read about? And if they were not hypocrits, why didn't they change things when they were in control? While Catholics do help the less fortunate, they seem to be sort of stingy when you look at the wealth they have amassed. It's way above and beyond what they need for existance.

I would ask the same of you. Do you have anything specific that we can read? Do you have any information on Vatican wealth and yearly expenditures?

Well Eric,

Considering they are one the largest real estate owners in the entire world, that alone should tell you something.

Why don't you write them a letter and ask them to disclose all the information you are asking for?

Do you think you will get a reply?

This is it folks, the false religion spoken of in the book of Revelation is taking over the world.

Go hide in your underground bunkers while you still have the chance!

No, actually it's still Roman Catholicism.

And yes, I wear the Roman Catholic label proudly.

What an honor, to know that I share the same religion as the ancient Romans, what a great people.

WASP suckers haha.

Why do you think that they are one of the worlds largest real estate owners? Do you have any statistics on that?

But back to the earlier point, you posited that Catholics, or the Church, are/is stingy due to the amount of wealth that it has. Can you back that up in any way?
