Whats Your Top Thriller Movie Of All Time?

Mine Is:

Se7en

Seven (also marketed as Se7en) is an American 1995 Academy Award, BAFTA nominated crime film directed by David Fincher. The story follows two detectives, one retiring and one his replacement, jointly investigating a series of ritualistic murders inspired by the seven deadly sins. Over the course of the investigation they attempt to track down the killer before he has a chance to murder his seven victims. The film was written by Andrew Kevin Walker. It stars Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as the detectives.

I would have to say:

Silent Hill

Silent Hill is a 2006 horror film directed by Christophe Gans and written by Roger Avary. The story is an adaptation of the Silent Hill series of survival horror games created by Konami. The film, particularly its emotional and aesthetic content as well as its creature design, includes elements from Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, and Silent Hill 3.

The film follows a mother who takes her troubled daughter to Silent Hill, the town the girl cries out for while sleepwalking. After being knocked unconscious in a car crash outside the town, she awakens to find her daughter missing and the town engulfed in an alternate reality of fog and falling ash. While searching for her daughter, she faces surreal reality shifts and suffering creatures while uncovering her daughter's connections to the town's dark secrets. Wikipedia

What also interested me about this movie was the inspiration behind the setting.

In researching the different elements of Silent Hill, screen writer Roger Avary was inspired when he heard of Centralia, Pennsylvania, and decided to base the film on it. The population of the town has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 12 in 2005 and 9 in 2007, as a result of a 46-year-old mine fire burning beneath the borough.

Centralia is a borough in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. Its population has dwindled from over 1,000 residents in 1981 to 12 in 2005 and 9 in 2007, as a result of a 46-year-old mine fire burning beneath the borough. Centralia is now the least-populous municipality in Pennsylvania, with four fewer residents than the borough of S.N.P.J.Centralia, Pennsylvania --Wikipedia

I detest scary movies. I feel they play on the most base aspects of our subconscious and only add to our collective manic condition. Why torture yourself when there is actual scary crap in the real world - Just turn on the news.

I know...not so fun. But I do like suspense movies and of all of the ones I have seen, by far, the one that actully got me hyperventilating was "Cape Fear" with Di Niro and Nolte. The original was great too. It was something that could actually happen so I found it to be pychologically riviting.

I just watched Richard Kelly's latest film (writer and director of Donni Darko).

"Southland Tales" is a bit long, and not a film for the typical popcorn and red vines moviegoer, but I really liked it. Right up the ATS alley.

Yeah, I liked "Donni Darko" very much. "Southland Tales" is an ensemble piece of an apocalyptic 2008, done in much of the same styling from DD.

Basically, it takes place in the world of today, 2008, but with a few insertions of things that are speculated to happen in the not-so-distant future. There is a Presidential election going on, a source of free energy has been developed, there is a new synthetic drug sweeping the nation, and the country is existing in a state of semi-martial law due to homeland terrorism.

Watching the movie you would think it would be more like 2010, or 2014, but it's 2008. Just another one of those strange things in Kelly's films.

I'd give you more, but it would give away the film. The tag line for the film is "this is how the world ends", and I'll leave you at that.....

This was one of my favorite scenes.......

Seven is also on of my favourite of all time.
Also, I think The Thing with Kurt Russell, when it first came out, was pretty damn scary.
Same with Alien, the original one.

That is so strange, I read the title of this and thought of the same movie you did... I'd say Seven is definitely the best... Well in my opinion and yours obviously, at least...

Are you sending me telepathic messages through your message?

Se7en. The only movie Brad Pitts ever been in that I've liked. Great movie...edge of my seat the whole time. Morgan Freeman being in it helped tremendously.

Great movie.
