Just a quick question to the big guys...

Would there be any objection from the management regarding groups of memebers in a given area of any country getting together to debate threads and issues being discussed on the boards here?

The reason I'm asking is that I think it would be a good way of developing comradeship on the boards and fostering research links etc.

If this is OK - I'm willing to have a North West UK meet at my place andf even provide snacks/drinks.

What do you guys think?????

It would have to be strictly U2U invites after an expression of interest and then it would be up to the host to look at who wants to attend and review their posts etc before agreeing.

Has this been suggested before? I imagine is has but a search threw up nothing.

Thanks for taking the time to think about this...

It's a very good idea!!!

I'm living in a very very small house so I wouldn't be able to host a Dutch meetup... but I will make snacks

Glad others are thinking the same.

Still think we need to get the OK from t'three amigos before we do anything in the name of this site though.

Good to see I'm not the only singing from this particular hymn sheet though.

Humm...spooks, cters, anarchist, racist, civil-rights activist, moonies, radical islamist and christians all in the same room?

Hey I think your on to something....this could be bigger than the UN.

Of course it could all fall apart at the first sign of disagreement with everyone being killed by the guy who forgot to take his prozac that evening!

Bottom line...it's worth a try.....anybody live in Dallas TX?

LOL -

hence the whole U2U thing beforehand - you can then review someones posts and see if they seem 'normal' in an ATS way of speaking.

besides, I seriously think that most of uis here are right minded decent humans.

I'd like to see an ATS convention more than a meetup. Perhaps the three amigos have something like this planned?

If there's a convention in Phoenix, San Francisco, Sante Fe, or anything in the Southwest I'd probably be able to get there...

Actually I've been to 3 meet ups. Quite a good time. It's like ATS only you don't have to type and it's in real time. Topics flow like you wouldn't believe.

A disclaimer. Meet ups AREN'T endorsed by ATS. Members are free to gather as they wish(no one can stop you) but ATS can not be held accountable for what goes on in RL. That being said, don't drink and drive. Friendly piece of personal advice.

Here is a meetup:

Great lakes ATS adventure

That may help you get an idea what you're in for: meeting a very interesting group of people, and be prepared for some surprises

I'd like to see this happen in the US, preferably the west coast:

ATS convention

I live in OKC area. Some of us on the board were talking about a meet-up in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. Khtulu never got back with me and i never heard any more about it. Maybe he decided to uninvite me-I don't know. Anyway, I'm open to driving to Dallas some weekend. Dallas is a big place and has confusing highway systems, loops, etc. so some place CLOSE to I-35 would be good. Let me know. I work the first weekend in April but most weekends I'm off.

Hey all. I asked this question in the Ask Skeptic Overlord thread and didn't hear anything about it. I think it is an outstanding idea. Even if it was done by region. If you have to start small, oh well. You never know what it could lead to. I am up for it here in NY.
Again, great idea. If trekies can do it, so can ATS'ers.
