I was just wondering, if a country were 2 be rulled by communism (hears da catch), but the obsolute ruler could ONLY make GOOD decisions that concern the PEOPLE. Would this work??? Would it be well managed and make that country last very long???

Most efforts in communism have basically been dictatorships...first, do you even know what communism is?

The problems with communism do not stem solely from the person at the top of the powerbase but rather the fact there is no reward for sucess in the system. The Glass Ceiling Analogy would argue that no matter how hard you worked in a communist system there can be no higher status reached. This results in people becomming corrupt as crime becomes an outlet for sucess. The problems stem from the people at the bottom and middle levels of management.

A perfect communist government would work really well. Unfortunately, the world has never seen, nor will it ever see, due to the greed of man, a remotely perfect communist government.

I don't think communism could ever work on a large scale like the government of a country, because each human in the equation is a variable, and once you reach a certain size its really hard to keep it all working. Maybe in small villages a communism-like-system could work, but on a national level its doomed to failure.

Communism always fails because the leader doesnt step down and become equal to everyone after building up social programs. The key behind communism is trust. and in todays world that would never work....

Quote from my English teacher "Communism can never work because of the human nature. How can a doctor and a janitor be at the same levels of society?"

I never had any lessons about Communism nor do I know your teacher, funny to see we concluded the same
- though he put it into some practical example.

youre probably right, but its a sad indictement on human nature if success can only be measured by reaching a higher status than your neighbour. marx wrote that our ideas are based on the economic structure in which you live, and this is evident in what your saying: that the whole of society is, and must be, defined by competition (as it is in capitalist society). i dont (or perhaps more accurately,i HOPE) that this isnt really the case.

Bolshevik,

you know I'm not a genius but some things seem very clear to me while not at all to others.

first of all socialists are people that want more materialism and resent others having too much as they call this injustice.

so what do they do? they create a system of life whereby everything in it is measured via the '$' bill. Thus falling into the hands of the very people that they claim to loath.

what do their leaders do? they live high on the hog and pee down on the masses below them, like the bourguoise.

what happened to spiritualism? the very reason for existance in the first place? socialists were so desparate to get rid of it they failed to realize that it was the sole reason for existance and the reason that they could see injustice in the first place in the world.

Why does everone think communism is a dictatorship? I dont know squat about how gov't works but isnt the idea of communism is to abolish money. I think most would agree that money is the root of evil so a society w/o it would be good if it were not corrupt.

the communist systems of russia and china amongst others were as you describe, a way for someone like Stalin to gain total control over a country for personal gain. but that isnt true communism. its like saying 'capitalism doesnt work, look at franco and mussolini'. these people do not represent political ideals.

the communist idea is based on the idea that humans are equal, and therefore there should be no political or economic elite. materials are to be distribruted according to need rather than want.

there is however, as you say, an undeniable need for a form of political elite otherwise nothing could be acheived. this is not in essence anti-communist unless the ruler is self serving. communism and democracy are similar ideals as both are based on giving powers to the people.

if by spiritualism you mean religious thought then there is indeed no place for that in communism, but i dont see that as a problem. i believe that we should strive to create a heaven on earth rather than wait in hope for an afterlife accepting injustice. atheistic spritualism does in fact exist.

idealistic, i know...

Communism is a fantasy because you will never get everyone to believe that life should be lived the same way by everyone.

Even if you 'trained everyone from cradle to grave,' as has been attempted in various places to force people to adopt the system, there are many individuals that do not and will not agree. They are born that way.

So what do you do murder all those people? they tried that too but then the controversy would not go away.

socialism will not work in a self-centred world where materialism is the prime motivator of existance. Notice I said materialism and NOT MONEY! A world without the embracing of higher spiritual ideals is a world of human ANIMALS and thus the chaos continues.

Ever read The Giver by Lois Lowry. It is a fictional book about a a perfect communism society, i found it very thought provoking about how a seemingly utopian society was really a soul less dystopia. The Giver

A society that trys to stick with the motto all men are equal will fail because we are not, we all have to find our niche. Capitalism has succeeded in the USA because it forces a person to do something to make cash in a dog eat dog money market, and family matters, if you are born into a rich family you are almost set for life when you are born.
