Bush: I want the romance of war

www.presstv.ir

The US president claims he would join the troops in Afghanistan if he were younger, saying he is 'envious' of those in the front lines.

"I must say, I'm a little envious. If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed," said President George W. Bush in a Thursday video conference.

War is delightful to those who have not experienced it.

Bush as a draft-dodger would probably have very romantic notions of war.

Send him tot he front and watch him soil himself.

Surley he experienced all of the "romance" of war taking on the Vietcong over the skys of Texas?

Utter and total mong.

Bush probably have a very hollywood-like view of war, like most people who havent experienced it.

I wouldnt trust Bush to clean my sock drawer.

He probably has some vision of leaning out of a train slowly chugging away from the platform while Barbera runs alongside telling him how she loves him and how she will wait on him to return safely. As the train gets faster, tears running down her cheeks, their hand grip loosens and slips and as he looks lovingly back she is lost from view in a cloud of steam....

Weird indeed.

i have to agree here,

i am one of tho's who he speaks of

and thats "one" of the reason i joined the army but not realy the main one that was because i was sick of going from job to job, and all the Benafits & Opatunitys that come with the job,

i also have a few freinds that have join the marines and other deppartment of the army royal signals, reme/engineers in the last few years, when i ask them why did you join firstly was because of there finacial issues and second was because tho's insane terroists need to be dealt with and im a patriot or along thos line's,

while i do not agree with iraq, and think we should pull out asap, afghanistan is a whole other issues and kettle of fish, fail there or pull out and your be fighting that war on your own soil, i dont think al qaeda will stop till its completly destroyed... i hope we stay till the job is done, but im not looking forward to doing a 6month tour every year & half

it could also be, as Bush would say 'sublublimblinal' (subliminal) message to his "enemies" that he is a willing killer, a murderer.
in a different context which may actually exist between him and another person that would seem like a 'covert' threat, a statement of his character.
In my opinion there are far more intelligent things to do than kill and be killed.

ROFL! nicely put attari... Hes such a mong to make a statement like this.

I mean, does he have such a low view of the public that he thinks they will have forgotten about him dodging service in Vietnam?

Lets be honest about the glories of war though, fighting is the reason that drives people to join the army in the first place. Nobody joins to "make a difference" or to protect their country... they join to get in the fray. I certainly know its the reason i did.

so true!!

but sometimes you have no choice but to retaliat to secure peace and for a safer world, while bush may have/was 100% wrong about iraq, afghaistan as i said before is the 100% the right thing to do, and a war that needs to be won, iraq & afghanistan imo are completly diffrent matters,

Indeed saying you wish you were in the 'front lines' means to kill or be killed. So in light of that, I find it quite disturbing that he used the words "fantastic experience". Sick

those are circular arguments to me.... war is no solution and those who think it is simply do not understand the experience here (on earth)... people go too far with their ideas and culture; the society they hold so dear, we are all born as children; we as children only learn what adult-hood is from other children who imagine they are adults, we call them parents and for anyone who has some they should know they are definitely not 'adult' and in most cases are more childish than we assume we are.

[edit on 3/15/2008 by PuRe EnErGy]

To RETALIATE to SECURE ........ = PEACE???

The words Retaliate and Secure(in this context) is not peace and have nothing to do with it..

ALTHOUGH...

**IF** as we have perverted the word secure in the context of military missions... to "secure, the area" usually meaning securing it for a certain idea/opinion/side.... killing people..
than we can safely assume what PEACE means in the Bush context is only total annihilation of whatever opposes his ideas/opinions/side.. being unfortunately the American people who are following his WORDS and not his MEANING.

a little paranoid are we? ... whose attacking me?
it is a constant happening? was I struck once? .. you are being vague to make a vague point, either way it is a hypothetical situation.. so should I perhaps install some hypothetical controls to monitor the hypothetical outcomes? and get so caught up in a hypothetical world I completely leave and ruin this one?

No one likes to be hit... much less intimidated, threatened or terrorized, but you do not fight fire with fire or water with water...
There is really no reason that YOU or I should have at all about this affair because we were simply born into a system that was setup centuries ago by families who passed their wealth and knowledge down, this is not conspiracy it is just intelligence anyone with a brain would do this.... the unfortunate thing is, is when they got the brilliant idea that to keep more of the money for themselves they should intermarry ..

we're just a story some hypothetical people will read and we will be the hypothetical people they read about.

Oh for the days when the leaders would lead the attack from the front

I'd like to see Bush, Bliar and all those other idiots glorifying death in a uniform, rifle in hand, leading the fight they feel is so righteous. But of course, that'll never happen, they are too busy reaping the financial rewards back home while other people (the lower classes) get sent to die.

The enemies we now fight are the creations of our own corrupt leadership.
The military industrial complex makes astronomical amounts of money but needs a constant stream of enemies and conflicts to survive. If peace really was the goal, they'd go out of business. Money trumps peace and life

ACT. Get that gang out of the White House ASAP.
If more people had seen the real truth of the "attack" they would have been out on their cans by now.
That's why God invented straight jackets.

I think you're expecting too much from him. At that time he was probably binging on coc aine.

Well he is certainly a big character in Our novel
Call me a pessimist, but I don't think the next president will exactly be our savior. Even if we elected Mother Teresa, the corruption would run rampant.

lol

no im not paraniod im asking you wot you would do if you was attacked or your country was and you was incharge! all your implying is nothing at the minite!!!, because your saying war is no solution in a previous post, and it clearly is if its the only thing you can do should you be attacked? its the last option but the only in some case's i.e sit there and let extreamists plan attacks on your country because of your culture?

Who says he can't go to Afghanistan to help the war effort? Isn't he, as a leader, supposed to lead?

I remember reading that George Washington fought alongside his own army during the Revolutionary War.

All of the great generals of history did.

So, what's keeping Bush from being the leader that he should be? I think it's high time that he accepts responsibility for his actions over the course of the past 8 years, and go over there and fight like the man that he claims to be.

Better yet, send him to Fallujah. I'm sure that they'd be happy to have him.

I wonder how long he'd last there before having to come home with PTSD?

Things like this make me wonder what kind of people we have running our country right now.

A relative who was in WW2 once told me that the first time soldiers come under heavy artillery fire, a large percentage soil themselves

If only for that reason, I'd like to see shrub on the front line - and THEN ask him about the "romance" of war.

This man really is from a different planet - does he really think that people fall for his particular brand of BS.
Unfortunately, many probably do...
