For the past couple weeks My web browser (i use Safari for Mac) keeps automatically

refreshing or reloading webpages but only when I am on the Above Top Secret

website!!

Am I being paranoid or is this somehow an unintentional byproduct of Big Brother

monitoring people on this site???? This never use to happen before. It just refreshed again

while i was writing this. Is anyone else experiencing this???? And What's the dealio??

I'm paranoid enough just writing and expressing the truth now in light of everything

going on these days and it is certainly a little unnerving to see my browser suddenly

refresh without my doing the refreshing.

Is it refreshing the whole page or just ads?

The ads were auto-refreshing earlier today for me, haven't noticed it happening in the last twenty minutes though.

FYI, running Win XP, Firefox.

Edit to add: Oops I take that back, it just refreshed the ad...so it's still happening.

Well it's definitely strange because what happens is that at the top of my page there is url

address bar and when you refresh a page the address is highlighted in blue from left to

right until the page is done loading.

Now what is happening on ATS is the address bar is (by itself) rehighlighting in blue from left to right

just as if the page was refreshing - however - the entire page does not actually go blank

and reload. I do not recall having ever experienced this before and it obviously makes

me a little suspicious

I've not had that prob.

But I have a prob of late running firefox on XP - I just can't see anything on BTS - it's been screwing my head - keep having to open internet explorer.

Here's a thread I started on that...
I seem to be having a problem viewing BTS using firefox.

Edit: but for instance if I were to click that link above ^^^ firefox would go to ....internetbollox..belowtopsecret.com/forum/error.html.... every time (note /error.html)

What browser are you running? Have you updated it since you got it? Have you downloaded any Malware? You need to give more info.

I know he is but I would prefer him to not be obvious about it that's too intimidating!!!

I am using Safari for Mac as I mentioned before-I haven't updated in awhile in a month or two.

I'll load firefox and see if the same thing

happens.

Lol it's on autofresh setup by the sites programmer. Go to cnn.com and see the same thing happens about every 3 min. or so. Nothing major, just a nice way to get the page fresh.

This happens over on DA to. There it's the Ads. I think that's what causes it here to.

I'm on CNN.com with Safari and no it is not doing what it does on ATS by any stretch of the

imagination....

And I loaded up ATS on Firefox and logged in and yes it is doing the exact same thing

however it is not as obvious because with Firefox when the browser refreshes the address

bar does not light up but what does happen is the stop load button which is red with a white

x lights up for a couple seconds and then becomes faded or greyed out again...

Hmmmm?? Anyone else see this??

Don't worry it's not big bro.

Most news sites do it all the time (CNN for example). It's done on their end and affects your end.

That is it.

Nothing sinister or magical. Just a refresher for the constantly changing new info.

It helps you stay current.

Well I want to believe that but as I just said I'm on CNN.com right now waiting patiently to

see the same phenomenon yet unfortunately it is not happening.

I noticed the same thing recently. It's definitely something new. They must have changed their code some how. Care to jump in on this one mods or management?

Then it's something to do with your computer mate.

Everything on my three refreshing from CNN to the Drudge Report.

Drudge refreshes more often go there and wait.

It's been going on like this with sites for a LONGER time than you know.
I think you just only noticed it.

I never noticed this for ATS to be honest but for most sites regarding news it happens all the time.

You guys have just noticed this? You can have your website update itself it's really not that hard to do. The refresh can be set and my designer friends have sites they have made that do it. You can create your own and do it as well...of course that doesn't make you a government spy.

I actually like that it happens because for most sites I have to push the "refresh button" if it doesn't or is too slow to change.

You have one right?

Same thing or similar to what the site owners can do. They change the page and if it doesn't auto refresh it will next time u click "board home". For most people that have it happen we are ahead of you that didn't.

For sites like this that have constant posts and updates it is ESSENTIAL to keep us all on the same page.

I mean...why would the government refresh your websites for you?
what would be the goal of that?

Thank You for also noticing - Yes it would be nice if some could explain why this is

happening on ATS now when it never happened before

And lee thank you for your input - I am on Drudge report right now yes you are correct the

same the same thing just happened so apparently ATS is not the only site however this still does not really explain why it happens. It may very well be advertisement but then again as I suggested - it may indeed be a byproduct of Big Brother. I'm sure the Government has computers that scan and analyze activity all over the internet in the same way that they use computers to analyse millions on phone calls looking for key words and such and it just may be an unintentional result of just such spying and monitoring however perhaps it is simply a component of ads and flash.

Why it happens is to keep you up-to-date. I already explained.

why do you think a news site would refresh its home page?
You think they would like to keep old news on it?

It's obvious that they have to catch up to the constantly changing events of the world.

ATS is doing the same thing.

Case closed man.
