PARIS - EADS stumbled into loss last year, hammered by 1.4 billion euros ($2.1 billion) of provisions on the A400M military transport aircraft,
charges on airliner programs and restructuring prompted by chronic dollar weakness.
The European company reported March 11 a larger-than-expected 2007 net loss of 446 million euros after a profit of 99 million a year earlier, on
stable sales of 39 billion euros. High levels of deliveries of Airbus commercial aircraft buoyed sales.

In response to Boeing's appeal of the U.S. Air Force's award of an air tanker contract to EADS and Northrop Grumman, EADS Chief Executive Louis
Gallois said, "The process was exceptionally transparent, professional and fair."
Gallois was speaking at a news conference here on the group's 2007 results.
It was "not a hazard" that the militarized Airbus A330 has won five competitions in a row, he said. The profit split between EADS and Northrop
Grumman on the U.S. contract is confidential, he said.

Great timing for A330 contracts taking off as to speak.
