This is what I wrote for school.
The Mist is a great film from Director Frank Darabont. He’s the master of horror and insanity. In collaboration with Stephen King, he was able to
make this movie after many, many years. It’s from the mind of a madman and you instantly feel it while you watch the film. The special effects are
great, surprising! But the film is not about the monsters or the special effects it’s about humanity. I wanted to recommend a modern film; A film
like this only comes along every 10 years. Very rare to see a movie with great round characters and a deep metaphorical message hidden in the
narrative. I don’t want to ruin the ending for you, but let’s just say it’s a shocker. The film deals with how humanity deals with dangerous
situations and how we group with others to find a way out. In the film we have the religious group, the Atheist group, the government group and the
judicial system group. What’s more fun than that? Well, the film takes place entirely inside a grocery store. The Mist is a government experiment
gone wrong where monsters from another dimension fall out into our world. The monsters represent our fears and distractions. They are the terrorists.
The main character played by Thomas, is a man who is blinded by the mist. He’s racist, evil and controlling and he doesn’t know it. He’s the
villain in the film, but he thinks he’s doing the right thing as all villains might think. The film is a psychological trip into the mind of a
crazed horror artist who see’s the world thru a thick mist and is blinded by fear. In the end the lesson we must learn is that we must never follow
a belief and be our own person. Free ourselves from others and make our own choices in life. A great film to watch, entertaining but at the same time,
deep with sociological, political issues. You have to see this film. The master of suspense is back!
