I set here with my laptop browsing ATS and sitting beside me holding my hand is my soon to be wife. My future in-laws are sitting across from us and were all doing the chit-chat thing. I like Skunk works and the survival tech forums the best. Browsing them how ever gets me wondering. What are we waiting for and why? Why does it have to end.

I see the 2012 threads popping up all over. when I was a kid it was the Y2K thing. I am sure there was lots more before that. Why? Whats the point. Is it all speculation or is it the other way around and is it a fact. Or and the one I truly believe. Are we making sure its a fact.

What I mean by that is. Are we so desperate to start over and try to get it right again that we are destroying our race. are we going to make it happen?

If we do make it happen what is the most likely way that we are going to make it happen?

Very interesting post!

People believe that if we just scratched everything and started over, we could make things right. The reality is we would still be led by politicians who would ignore the past. Study the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. Comapre it to the American Empire (but multiply the speed by 10 or 20). The events are exactly the same.

And even if we were able to avoid mistakes, how do we go about it? Suppose we started over, what sort of economical system should we have? Capitalism? Communism? Socialism?

Do we want a democratically elected governement which works only towards getting re-elected or do we want a benevolent dictator? Or something else?

Until we find the perfect system, or at least a very viable one, it won't happen.

Got starred three times and only one post. I am still trying to figure out this forum thing. I really don't understand it.

I don't understand what you mean... on the peoples level or the government level...

who is starting over? most all nations are really old and not changing much at all.....

though, I agree with, ajmusic,

it's natural to think cyclically. our earth depends on the reoccurring, so i do not think it's a far stretch of the mind to want or think about word-wide cataclysmic events.

i am not waiting for it to happen, but with my daily spiritual and intellectual growth, i might be inadvertently preparing myself for it.

and also, the 2012 theories do not all predict a physical destruction but instead a spiritual awakening, the starting of a new cycle.

here's a thought too, i think some of us really do want a world-wide disaster that brings about economic and social chaos. for some, it might be the one thing that equalizes their barely breathing life that is riddled with debt and social concerns. it might make everyone equal again.

In my opinion governments don't change all that much. If they change they may loose voters.
I believe its us as a people who are putting ourselves on a destructive path. It may also be life is just too easy.

Thru out history we have had to fight for our survival. now we for the most part don't. Life is so easy that we have time to spare. lots of time.

Not to offend but there is a old say that seems to apply here. "The idle mind is the devils play ground. it may have nothing to do with wanting to start over and every thing to do with life being boring for the amount of time and e4nergy we have left over.
