An experiment is being conducted that is looking to protect people who are not paying attention from walking into lampposts.

A study conducted by 118 118, a phone directory service, found that one in 10 people has been hurt while focusing on their cell phone instead of where they were walking, ITN reports.

One proposed solution was to have lines drawn on the pavement that texters could walk along while using their phones. One study claims that 68,000 people were injured in the UK last year while talking or texting on their cell phone.

You know, the general stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

The very same people who are too dumb to be looking where they are going and need "lines" marked on the pavement and "padding" on lamp posts will be complaining when their council tax goes up to pay for it.

Its the same with people who claim "trip" accidents.

What ever happened to looking where you are going and being personally responsible?
