Where exactly does the term "Don't tread on me" come from?

I know we have an awesome mod, (and I'm not brown nosing) that uses that screen name, which is why I noticed lately the same term being used as a patch or tatoo even with a cobra snake by it.

It's from the American Revolutionary War. It was on a flag and the snake on the flag represented the 13 colonies. Don't tread on me was a warning to the tyrannical King George III. Step on the snake you will get bit.

Well, thats not good, im getting married in less than a month after your prediction. Now I'm going to have to get it done earlier.....and we'll never get a cake in time

Come on man, where is your PROOF? because I talked with God the other day on the phone.....(granted he/she dialed the wrong number by mistake and ended up calling me instead) and he/she never mentioned anything to me about this.

As far as I know its a Gadsden flag.

He'll open the milk, notice a slightly sour smell and look at the expiration date:

He'll go to school mildly famished.

Someday I predict something will happen on our soil. What are they doing with all the national guards that are being pulled from the borders?

If something were to happen here it would fit in perfect for martial law which would ensure our fearless leader could remain right where he is.

No other info given. Then we look at the user name and it's Nuclear Terrorism.

Question:

I am getting a different take on this than you are, which is fine.

I see it as people fighting for their freedoms here at home versus peoples from afar wanting to punish us.
