Can someone please explain "New country" to me?

Please?

The only explanation i can come up with is that in order to genuinely enjoy this music you have to be absolutely emotionally and mentally simple minded. Do the fans not realize they are being fed the same formula over and over and over? Its the same song folks!! i'm not talking the johnny and willie country now. thats actual country. New country is just pop music with a twang.

it's painfull. really really insulting. How we got from Johnny cash to kenny chesney is beyond me.

I think that does describe a lot of country music today. I don't listen to the radio, so I really don't know Kenny Chesney or very many others.

I don't know where you put Garth Brooks, George Strait, Randy Travis, and Junior Brown, but they do music that interests me.

Sometimes, you just never know where a good country song is going to come from.
