Defense Contractor Targets Hostile Takeover of Diebold!!

blog.wired.com

Diebold Inc., maker of automated teller machines, security systems and voting machines, was the recent target of an unsolicited $2.63 billion takeover offer from United Technologies Corporation, a leading aerospace defense contractor.

The NY Times editorial board sees a problem with a defense contractor, that has a strong corporate interest in the outcome of presidential elections, having any role in the counting of votes, should the takeover succeed.

Yep-They've been a complete farce for a while now. This takeover is just trading one evil for another. The dumbest part about is, ALL of these candidates, on both sides, WILL ALL KEEP FURTHERING THE CORPORATE AND MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX AGENDAS...So really, it doesn't even matter who's controlling the tallying of votes anymore. When the candidates are all hand chosen by the Elitists, it makes no difference who wins-NOTHING CHANGES...Business as usual, uninterupted.

Yup, I saw this article before. It is a concerning article, but I must reiterate the rules in the BAN forum that you are supposed to use the original title of the article. I've just been though this with a mod over another article where I tried to do that, insisting that I'd pinned the real meat of the matter on the article over the original article title. No go. Rules are rules.

Holy crap. McCain's top political advisor is the lobbyist for the folks trying to buy the company that counts the votes!

www.washingtonpost.com...

For years, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has railed against lobbyists and the influence of "special interests" in Washington, touting on his campaign Web site his fight against "the 'revolving door' by which lawmakers and other influential officials leave their posts and become lobbyists for the special interests they have aided."

But when McCain huddled with his closest advisers at his rustic Arizona cabin last weekend to map out his presidential campaign, virtually every one was part of the Washington lobbying culture he has long decried. His campaign manager, Rick Davis, co-founded a lobbying firm whose clients have included Verizon and SBC Telecommunications. His chief political adviser, Charles R. Black Jr., is chairman of one of Washington's lobbying powerhouses, BKSH and Associates, which has represented AT&T, Alcoa, JPMorgan and U.S. Airways.

-SNIP-

Even before McCain finished his news conference, uber-lobbyist Black made the rounds of television networks to defend McCain against charges that he has been tainted by his relationship with a lobbyist. Black's current clients include General Motors, United Technologies, JPMorgan and AT&T.

Holy crap, this looks suspicious!

So McCain has ties to this.

Doesn't Cheney have ties to Diebold?

Are we just going to keep passing it on down the line? Maybe when Schwarzenegger runs for president we can hand it over to IBM.

As a matter of fact, lets just turn it over to the Bilderbergs and save ourselves the next 4, 8, 12+ years of the illusion of democratic elections and civil liberties. Lets just get right to the point.

well imean those are really odd coincidences but IF they rigged the last elections like people think then they obviously wouldnt have gotten sloppier with practice. and imean rigging the elections wouldnt be an easy task even if you own the company that makes the machines.and noones even pointing out the fact that this company makes automated teller machines and security systems? this seems more directed at domestic spying then anything else.

The offer was a 66 percent premium over the North Canton, Ohio, company's closing price Friday.

As Hillary Clinton pointed out Tuesday night, as goes Ohio, so goes the nation.

It looks like patriots in the USA need to learn to build EMP weapons and take out the technology of the fascists.

I wonder how one would go about building an EMP weapon?

Scary stuff this is, it goes to show how the idea "by the people, for the people" government has been changed into: "buy the people, rule the people."

Convenient isn't it, I just heard Bush stating in interview that McCain will win...here

In a jocular reference to his own low standing in the polls, Bush pledged to do whatever he could to help McCain win the election - be it campaigning alongside McCain or instead saying "I'm against him."

Emphasis added by me.

1. It hasn't been demonstrated that's even possible.

2. The potential for collateral damage from such a hypothetical devise is very great.

The best part of this is that we can't really do anything about it. How the heck are we ever going to prove that the elections will be rigged? Will the average citizen even believe their government would do this to them? No, of course not.

Umm (a bit off-topic, sorry lads and lasses), don't nukes make EMPs? Now a hand-held device, I'm not sure how you'd do that.

On Topic: The government is so corrupt at this point, does it really matter if you vote? I'll vote anyway, but I see a rocky road in the US's future... Not too sure what to make of this voting machine business, but it fuels my disgust with my own gov't.

Frankly I'd prefer the defense contractor over the current ownership, based on what they've been doing to our vote. I think they would come under a lot more scrutiny, which would be a good thing.

Their current top shareholders are a mixed bunch

finance.yahoo.com...

It seems like Fidelity investments is the top institutional shareholder. I doubt they are dictating voter fraud however. There must be some other mechanism for that. It would be interesting to skin out.

It is nice to see America at its finest... this would make a really good movie, it does not get any better then this, really it just doesn't.

Hmm...I've heard that elections are for sale, but this brings it to a new level. How much is it worth to control US elections? Only 2 billion? I'd at least expect more of a bidding war for controlling US elections, but what can we expect?

Although, ultimately, controlling the vote rests with the media. If they choose, they can announce the vote was rigged, or that the results were whatever they choose. The media consortium also propogate the election results. Although, it may be harder for them to rig the vote count, than they used to, because it is often released on state and county web pages.
