IE running w/o add-ons, but...

I'm on Windows XP. I noticed on my IE desktop icon it suddenly had (running w/o add-ons).

I checked the add-on list and they are all enabled.

I also noticed that IE was not my default browser and I hadn't been notified of this-- that box was unchecked. I rechecked it and made IE the default browser, but I still don't understand what happened to change it.

I don't seem to be having any problems on AOL, but when I try to run just IE, I can't.

Any ideas?
