13,230 MILLION light years is the equvalent of saying 13.230 BILLION light years....

If the number 13 Billion LY doesn't ring a bell, it should. It falls within the estimated age of our entire Universe, mates. 'course, the final figure is still up to debate, but it doesn't go back much farther...and this, from current models, is an era when what existed in the Universe was mostly very hot, and very primordal. Mostly H and He...the elements were just begining to coalesce, much less galaxies and lifeforms..

I wish to point out, for some who are not in the US, that our convention is to us the decimal (.) whereas I have seen other countries use the comma (,) for the same purpose, in math. I guess more properly we should write in scientific equations, instead of English, and not get confused. (13X10 to the power of six, or what ever you intend...)

For instance, I would write out '13,230 million' as 13,230,000,000. That is just over 13 billion... (in English, the 'million' denotes at least six zeroes...).

BUT, if the OP was using European, or other parts of the World's connotation, "13,230 million light years" could, in the US, be read as..."13.230" million....or, 13 million, 230 thousand...written out, 13,230,000.

NOW! That could be a galaxy that had plenty of time to evolve....and to possibly engineer something, since, well...13 million years!!

Hope this helps....
