Survey: Americans switching faiths, dropping out

The majority of the unaffiliated -- 12 percent of the overall population -- describe their religion as "nothing in particular," and about half of those say faith is at least somewhat important to them. Atheists or agnostics account for 4 percent of the total population.

What I Believe ...Religion is falling because people are hiding from God and afraid of their judgement... The big bad book we christians call the bible says light came into the world and ppl loved darkness bc their deeds were evil. So yes it does not seem radical to me that a mojority of ppl are turning from religion "" the organized church"" bc they say the heck with God the heck with religion. People don't want to confess they are sinners and what they do is wrong...And for those that I know are going to come out with the you stupid christian remarks.. al I have to say is.. don't knock it til you REALLY ttry it.. and God Bless.. The world is definitly coming to an end and judgement is not that far away.. the events of the world are obvious... news clippings liike this are a grain of sand of the evidence..
