Thanks for your reasonable words and clarification, really.

For several reasons will I never convert to Islam, even at the point of the sword. 1) I'm a female and would not submit well to any man. 2) I want to continue to be able to speak out against other (Christians) that are misbehaving....Islam doesn't do/allow this activity. 3)..........

Heck....why am I explaining myself?

Nevermind!

Ahahahaah, Khomeini as a representative of Islam? Wow!

Anyway, I am a Muslim myself with strong Muslim beliefs (I pray, fast in Ramadan etc). I think that we need to learn how to fight wars again, we were so good! but now most of us are just murderers!

Ah well, I think that people are scared of criticizing radical Islam because of the previous responses from them. I don't blame you people at all, in fact I feel sorry for you

As for Osama Bin Laden, well he is what I call a pain in the neck, with all his ramblings and non sense (Like the video were he asked America to become Muslims). Little does he know that if we are to truly let people convert to our religion it is through our TRUE Islamic influence and not RADICAL Islamic influence.....

I'm curious about what the "true Islamic influence" might be?

Could "true Islamic influence" be brought about by the spread of Islam through-out the nations of the world via immigration where they exponentially explode in birth rates?

Never mind, I already know all I need about the muslim religion.

I don't think he did or at least understood it if so. He accused me of 'guzzling hate jizz.' Not surprised, though. It's those kind of comments that verify the thread's supposition.

Well I think the death threats, street violence and general mayhem that arose after the Danish cartoon controversy more or less proves my point. A quick google image search for jesus on the other hand brings up quite a bit of mocking material. Speaking from personal experience, my peers would criticise me for making this observation, calling it intolerant or even (incorrectly) racist.

I'm not intolerant, I just have a dislike for violence.

Incidentally, liking the username and picture combo, melatonin plus a dreamlike photo, nice.

I think he's been watching too much porn to be talking to you like that. Freudian slip? I guess the term it "warps" your mind is a good description. Heated debate or not it's no way to talk to a woman.

Well at least he wasn't talking to a goat.

Since we're on the topic of taboos relating to islam, I have a question. Hey maybe it's even verboten for me to even think this....

Is it only me or do others feel a sense of threatening innuendo from muslims (running the gamut of moderate to the extreme believers of islam).

Someone, please tell me if I err where my vibes are wrong. It just seems like that muslim posters who can't quell honest suspicions about islam will resort to statements of "malicious intent", regardless of how subtle it's worded????

Call me crazy.

I agree! I would have slapped the heck out of a man for saying something like that to me to my face.

Not even my brother in all his perversion or playful sibling rivalry would ever say something like that to me. Yuck! Not sure why the mods warned and edited his post but didn't take out the jizz talk directed towards me. Or the multiple stars for such a distasteful way of getting your point across but so be it.

Nasty...

All that really shows is that radical muslims have a taboo against criticising radical islam. Not that there is a social norm that hinders criticism of radical islam.

I think there is a sort of social taboo against criticising religious beliefs per se, but it's not a strong one (aptly distilled into the respecting beliefs blah). Indeed, I think this taboo applies less to radical islam, as can be seen in this thread, which is really just a place for people to vent their dislike of islam - which is cool by me.

As I said, I would be interested in such a taboo, but I haven't seen any evidence of one, certainly in our culture.

Incidentally, liking the username and picture combo, melatonin plus a dreamlike photo, nice.

Cheers. The pic is a Stanley Donwood artwork.

Hmmmm, very good observations, Ashley. I've blocked some of the more angry posters thus I haven't seen 100% of the replies to your thread.

This is very trashy behaviour....and it reflects on the forum moderators that they would allow such nasty talk aimed at you...or any other fair-minded poster for that matter.

asked why "one"cannot or does not speak against RADICAL MUSLIM
FANATICISM.

Have you read the thread? It's a really, really stupid argument to make on a thread with, what, is it up to 11 pages yet? On the Conspiracies in Religion forum, which has become nothing BUT a den of mumblenuts Christians who are, ahem, getting carpal tunnel over slamming atheists, Catholics, and Muslims. Especially Muslims. These threads are chock FULL of links about radical Islam, which also have links to MORE stories about radical Islam, video imbeds, newspaper scans, etc. Click a few.

Anyone who is posting on the same internet as I am (and unless you're behind the Beijing firewall, I'm almost certain you are) and says "Well nobody says jack about radical Islam!" needs to jab a fork into their eye socket, 'cause they're clearly not using that thing.

You however, appear to be a very angry person in general.

Well so far in this thread, I've learned that someone I thought was fairly smart is quite possibly the intellectual equal of a bag of frozen carrots. I've made point after point only to have posters like yourself shove their toes up their noses, call me a terrorist supporter, refuse to read a goddamned thing I say, and just wander around in a circle yapping about Muslim like a small herd of clueless yorkshire terriers.

Apparently you are looking for an argument. I suppose by making the statement regarding freaks uh.. let me guess you were referring to Christians. Aren't you glad that when you go to bed tonight you can lay your head down on your pillow and not have to worry that your tongue be cut out for speaking poorly of " All"christians? Think about it! That is the
OP's point!

Actually, I'm speaking of Christian extremists. I suppose in your mind, these folks speak for Christians? 'Cause let's be hinest - my point was pretty clear to anyone with a room temperature IQ, so you're either a mite chilly, or you think all Christians are extremists.

As for my tongue? That's a nice little passive-aggressive threat, there. "Ooooh, you be glad we don't live somewhere where I could cut out your tongue for talking bad about my religion." Aren't you supposed to leave a warning first, like a little man nailed to a stick? A sheep's head in my bed? Something like that?

Now that you have partially succeeded in derailing this thread, do you think
you are sly enough to contribute some intelligent thoughts? (On topic
of course.) I, (and I'm sure there are others like me) won't hold my breath!!

I actually have. Hardly my fault if you've chosen to continue licking yourself rather than pay attention to what I've provided. Shall I repost my points for you anyway?

We have become a nation with screwed up priorities. We are SO politicaly
correct that we have sacrificed the integrity of our country. We have all
but abandoned our freedom of speech. Why?Because we don't want to offend anyone, hurt someones feelings That would be horrific! We would then be labled "BIG BAD AMERICA. They are just awful. Always sticking
their nose in everybodies business."

Why is it that the only people i ever see who think there is such a thing as "political correctness" are people who need something to gripe about? This concept died out in about 1990 when "Cop Rock" went off the air. It's now the sole province of ignorant complainers and conservatives with book deals. What next, are you going to complain about teased mullets, leg warmers, and sing us some Cindy Lauper songs?

Wake up people!

I'll take internet cliches for a thousand, Alex.

LOVE and appreciate what you have. This is an incredible
country! Time to realize it. Who knows, it could all be gone tomorrow.

Actually it was a few yesterdays ago. It's all been downhill since January 27, 1981.

Actually, for the attentive, it was because you posted a hate site, declared it unbiased truth, and have yet to acknowledge any point illustrating otherwise.

But let's not let reality enter your little bubble there, Ashley. it hurts and stings.

Heres an idea and it may take some of your time but watch the news once in awhile. If you can sit here and tell everyone here that people dont flip when you criticize islam you either live under a rock with an internet connection or you just feel like starting arguments. Ive listed several instances where people are persecuted for making any derogetory comments on islam "if you want Ill repost them"

One area I agree cause of the fair an balanced guy I am there are radicals on all sides and frankly I feel religion causes way more problems than we need. But lets face it these days most other religions are a lot more tolerant than Islam. Oh BTW say hi to Louis Farakahn for me will ya?

I mean, really... Posting anything on this thread makes me feel like I'm trying to teach my cat a trick. He probably can't learn it, won't do it even if he does learn it, and yet I'm still putting forth the effort for some reason.

Thanks, mybigunit (there's a phrase I've never said before!) I think I'll leave this htread to the jackals and go take up macrame or something else useful.

I don't like starting arguments. But they're fun to jump into. Like scottish bar brawls. But yes, I can look you square in the face and tell you there is no such outrage or "taboo" on the news. If you happen across it, funny thing is, you can still turn to FOX and probably catch Ann Coulter or Ollie North screeching like a wahabbi Mullah about the evils of Islam. It more than makes up the difference, I would think.

Louis Farrakhan isn't Muslim. Muslims do not believe Allah to be a black man who lives on a spaceship just outside earths gravitational pull, who invented white people to be labor, who will then pull black people into the spaceship with him and fly off to a paradise world.

Nation of Islam is more like "Dolomite in Space" than it is like Islam. Don't confuse the two.

LOL yes but he preaches islam and people think his way is the way of islam. This is the point Im making is that there are a lot of people who are preaching islam and not saying what it truly means. If people dont step up and start teaching the right things then the bad is that is going to be believed.

Perhaps people should look at, you know, actual muslims who are in actual mosques teaching other actual muslims from the actual koran, rather than looking at Louis Farrakhan... Perhaps if they DO want to look at Loonie Louie, they could take a little initiative and research what he's talking about.

I maintain that most of the people in this thread are too comfortable with their preconceptions to do any such thing.

Anyway. Macrame calls
