NEW $5 dollar bill!!!

Purple, purple on the 5????

Is it me, or does it look more like monopiply money????

The new money has many new "anti-copy" features.
Of particular notice will be the #2 change-

Small number arranged in such a pattern that "will cue image processing software to prevent digital copying"

Personally I was not aware of anything in image processing software that looked for specific patterns??

Now it is not that I approve of counterfitting of money, but how far is too far??

Do the "image processing" programs inform potential buyers that it looks for patterns and determines what to work on or not.
Also, I wonder, if the program(s) DO see this pattern, will they try to "phone home" to the manufacturer or to a 3 letter federal agency??

I know, we all want to know what programs they are, I am currently researching this and will post more info as I find it.

I like monopoly money. Always thought the Euro and other currencies looked better.
Have to admit the green left in there is a bit odd, but suppose they did not want to shock people who are so used to seeing green over the years.

The Hungarian 20k forint is pretty cool color wise and patterns. (thats about 100 in U.S dollars)

Peace

I don't really see the problem with that. Unless your trying to make a counterfeit of course.

The point or conspiracy is that it seems that image processing programs have been altered by federal agencies-without telling the general public.

I don't like the idea of "big brother" watching what I do, much less telling me what I can or can not manipulate with software.

If I want to make funny faces with a $5 bill, that is my business, not theirs.

Most graphics programs, such as Photoshop and Paintshop Pro, have currency detection assets.

Also, most color copiers use the same thing and will not allow you to copy bills of any sort.

You will get use to it, this is our old £20 note and now we have this slowly replacing them. One thing I noticed though is that the link doesn’t mention any UV markings, if you put our new notes under a UV light they glow a million colours.

I don't understand, what else are you printing that you think they will try to stop you?

It's not big brother watching you, it's just software designed to stop the printing of fake money. It's not like anyone is forcing you to buy a printer. It's not going to affect anyone who is not in the business of making counterfeits.

When people create fake money and use it, it devalues all of our money. I thought this software has been in printers for awhile now anyway, why all the fuss now?

Will that effect people who do art with currency? I mean I am guilty of playing around trying to make a fooney bill with a grey on it an alter some stuff off a dollar. does that make me a criminal?

So you can work your butt off for this money but you cannot print a bunch of bills as if they were a printed sheet an hang it on your wall? Ive just seen alot of money art

Money art

Just curious....

Do you honestly think that our government cares about people not being able to create 'money art'? IMO they could care less. Stopping counterfeiters is more important than that.

I saw the pics you posted, and you would have no problem printing those. They are concerned with copies of bills, hence the recognizable pattern pointed out in the OP's link.

It is not stopping me from doing anything, as I have no talent or programs of that type.

My point is I, for one, did not know of anything of this type existed for commercial software.

Two, I think the programs should make clear it has certain patterns that it will not work with. (Sure counterfeiting is wrong/bad/illegal....., but I fear the first right trampled, makes the second and third much easier)
And, PLEASE!!!!, make clear is not legal talk on page 100 of the ula.

It is just like the old cop issue, no, you do not need to come in, and you can talk to me here at the door. What do you have to hide???
Nothing, but I choose not to have you enter my home.

To use your rights IS NOT WRONG or suspicious.

Does anyone remember when it was the other way around and government had to show why they should bother you instead of YOU having to show why you are innocent, as it is now... (IMO)...however I would say in fact as well.

End Rant.

In the past it took a great deal of skill in order to produce counterfeit money and you would have to understand how to use a printing press, acquire one, understand inks & paper.

Essentially it would take thousands of dollars invested and years of skill to print money in the past. With the new inexpensive computerized inkjet & color laser printers & copiers of the last 15+ years a 12 year old with almost zero technical knowledge or skills could make pretty good counterfeit money.

Thus the secret service (money cops) had no choice but to get the companies that make printers & copiers & have them install firmware (software on a chip) that would thwart that attempt by the average person.

While counterfeit money can still be created by more skillful programmers which I suppose could bypass or remove that detection firmware or software. It stops the average joe from illegally printing money which makes the job of the secret service much easier.

After all if every idiot who can figure out how to make a copy can print money we would have a serious problem with allowing that medium of trade to continue. Paper money then would have eventually become worthless and we would be forced to use something else, since essentially almost every household would own a money printing press had these measures not been taken.

I suppose eventually all money will contain RFID's containing the individual serial #'s since we now have the technology to produce it cheaply. Someday cash registers might even check a database to see if in fact that bill is legit and not a hacked clone or stolen. Therefore money will all be electronic and the physical cash would merely be a representation of that money - as it always was.

One could always go shopping for a printer/copier that was created during a time that they were good enough but before they were de-tuned to not allow money printing. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a program to buy up those devices & destroy them when they show up on ebay & such.

Your describing something totally different. It's not like anyone is forcing you to buy or use printers, if you don't like it don't buy one.

Save those pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters...

It might get heavy and be a pain in the
but then you won't have to worry about any alphabet agency tracking you, or big brother watching you. Of course the cashiers and people in line behind you might get a bit

This is just another question of freedom vs. security. This is also one of the rare instances I think it's justified. The personal and economic damage that can be with counterfeit money outweigh your right to make funny dollar bills.

OooOOOoo, look!

The Federal Reserve has introduced the newest high tech features to prohibit just anyone from reproducing their worthless, intentionally inflationary, debt-inducing, fiat currency.

Aren't they just the cleverest enslavers of the common man?

Maybe we should all start pressing our own silver and gold coins and bypass the bastards once and for all. How can anyone argue with that, hell for that matter we could have chunks of gold or dust, since scales are cheap & we all could carry one.

One real & final revolution indeed to tell them they can put their phony money where the sun don't shine.

And the Feds would step in and seize it all.

Just like they did with the "Liberty" dollar.

Barter is better, anyway you can.

Squeeze 'em at the root of their power.

I'm puzzled....what in the world does this have to do with the 1st ammendment? Freedom of religion? Speech? Huh? I guess I have a different interpretation of the 1st ammendment?

I think the Amero is much more handsome. Yes, I think that is reason enough to bow down to the New World Order and worship the Union of North America ( / sarcasm ):

I wonder if the constant changes in the appearance of the US dollar bills of whatever denomination instill in the general public a sense of anxiety about their currency ... or are they so fashion conscious that a little bit of colour and a big headed President is just the thing.

My girlfriend works in the bank at a big casino and they just had the FBI in for a counterfit training class. The word is most comes in from overseas and about 3% of the 100$ are fake at any given time
