HUNDREDS of stupid, drunk and drugged partygoers danced millimetres from death at an "underground" dance party held at the base of a seaside cliff in Sydney's east, police say.

Sounds like a good party! But seriously, i thought it first meant that people we're dancing til death! then i read the article, and it's not as bad as i first thought. Let people have precarious parties if they want, it sounded like it would have been pretty spectacular to see. And the drunks that fall off the cliff, well as they say, "survival of the fitest". The world is over-populated with self-indulgent people anyway.

Lemmings.

If the police had not intervened, perhaps there would have been a mass Darwin award in order.

Very sad and we would have all shaken our heads and wondered how such a thing could have happened, but Darwin awards would have surely been in order nonetheless.

Pfft, they had a party at a cliff top, big deal...
BEFORE taking the drink and drugs, they would have realised that they were at a cliff edge, so when they were off their heads they will at least KNOW they are still at a cliff edge.

It's not like they've been drugged up and blindfolded and dropped from a helicopter and allowed to wander blindly around.

I've been to a rave on a mountain forest trail, with a large drop on one side, yet strangely enough..... nobody died.

Sounds like an awesome party. No roll-pile cuddle-puddles though.

We pulled off one inside an abandoned half burnt down chemical waste management facility. I swore ravers would come out glowing... I mean besides the glowsticks.

Plur, mang.

Did you even read the article?

The rave, which started at midnight on the tennis court-sized, oceanside rock platform, 30m below the Clovelly cliff top, was shut down by police responding to noise complaints at 3am (AEDT).
www.news.com.au...

It took two hours to evacuate the crowd of 300.

Just a thought... Has there ever been an event or a party where more than one person has lost their life by falling. Usually when someone dies at a party, or shop, or anywhere, festivities are put on hold. I can't see the whole party being in danger. Has a whole party ever been lost like that? The only things I can think of are nightclub fires, when people get trapped (even more of reason to hold large parties outside) or there is bombing, like in Fiji. Oh and I think there was an incident a few years back when the floor or balcony fell with a bunch of people on it. I feel safer outside personally, no clausterphobia.

Read the article.

The party was at the base of the cliff.

The danger was from the water.

Look at the picture.

Also, it took about two hours to get the everyone evacuated.

I know it's not a joke when people endanger their lives and it appears to me that the government did a better job of assessing the situation than the ravers.

No one would have known they were down there if it hadn't been for the noise, but I guess that's what rave's all about.

People get killed all the time doing stupid things.

At least this time, something was done before it was too late.

Id just like to say, there is a good percentage of rave goers that do not use drugs nor drink alcohol. People usually watch out for each other at these events.(PLUR!) Im sure this was only one of a hundred parties thrown on or near a cliff.

Yeah, it is VERY good exercise! When I was going to parties I never had to make an effort to exercise, dancing like that twice a week was enough! I guess I dont really make an effort to exercise now either, Its more of a, make sure to keep a busy lifestyle with lots of walking, hiking and such situation. Now if only I could accidentally burn out my CPU!
