Well, I finally did it and found one I wanted...

Here it is...

XPS 420

* XPS 420 Mini-Tower: Intel Core 2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)
* Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium

Operating System
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium

Memory
3 GB DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz (4 DIMMs)

Hard Disk Drive
320 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

Video
128MB ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO

Base
XPS 420 Mini-Tower: Intel Core 2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.4GHz,1066FSB)

Media Bay
16X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability

Software Upgrade
Microsoft Works 8.5 with MS Office Trial Version Software
Roxio Creator 9.1 Premier

Hardware Upgrade
USB Keyboard
USB Optical two button mouse

And it comes with a system disk so I don't have to go through the trouble of swapping my Vista Ultimate out...

So?

How does it look?

I of course will immediately swap my RADEON HD 2400 Pro vid. card into it as it has 256M of onboard memory..

Why not have then just set it up with on board video, since you will be putting a new card in and save the money.

That said, I ALWAYS tell people to get XP pro as operating system.

The processor and ram are good.

It's refurbished and the only configuration I could get at that price...

I know you like XP, but I really love my Vista....

Ewww... Dell.

How much did it cost?

It's my 3rd Dell and I have come to love them...

Went through HP, Compaq and Acer and I have found little to no difference in the particular company except for one thing, Dell's service has been excellent to me...

I got a 1 year full warranty and it cost exactly half of a new one...

I have the XPS 420... I love it.

I only have the Dual Core processors, but it's plenty for what I use it for.

I'm considering ording an XPS laptop.

I think you did very well with what you ordered, thats a nice system.

Thanks ED...

I struggled over getting the laptop over the desktop, but it was a little over what I wanted to spend and I am still getting used to my Acer.. It's a Dual Core and really does all I want it too...

But MAN are they sweet....

Take a look at their refurbished models... Save a bundle that way...

Get a Logitech laser mouse.

Nothing has changed my life the way the internet has and nothing has made the internet as easy to navigate than my MX1000.

The MX1000 has been superseded but I'm sure the newer versions will suffice.

Not too shabby.
I prefer to make my own though. Cheaper in the long run.

IT IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a delightful surprise...

First it is gorgeous, I'll post a picture of it tomorrow, second it was like Christmas all over. They included some really nice little accessories that I did not order or expect...

1. Beautiful XPS Hard Shell Mouse Pad
2. A Pair of really nice Creative Noise Isolation Ear Buds
3. An XPS Monitor Cloth
4. Wire Ties

Now that is the way to win a loyal customer. I was very surprised to see a company as large as Dell, send little "pluses" with a major purchase product...

No real time tonight to hook it on to the net, have to get all the stuff MrMonsoon recommends loaded on my new baby first, but I am sure looking her over...

More later...

Those smokes you have there will sure put a layer of crud on the inside of the computer if you do a lot of smoking in the house.

I know..

I am trying to quit, but it is the single hardest thing I have ever tried to do....

By comparison, Marine Boot was a walk in the park.. LOL.. Well maybe not that bad, but close..

And sadly, my favorite place to smoke is when I am on the computer...

I keep a fan running and just hope that it helps..

I see a window in the picture. Keep an exhaust fan drawing the smoke away, try to direct your exhales directly into the fan. You should have no problems.

I hear ya about quitting - I cold turkeyed butts and booze at the same time after a lifetime of indulging. Thought I was gonna die.

Nice system, btw.

Thanks JSO,

This machine is even better than I had imagined...

The Windows Vista is running flawlessly and I have yet to do enough on it to get the processors to work above 50%

Amazing...

Course now my wife tells me I have to sell a computer or two.. She says i have too many..

Is that possible?
