just wanted to add my two cents.. lol

Yes.. earthquakes happen pretty much every day in NV.. as they do in most of the west..

though, I gotta say, things really went weird last night (after the moon passed).

I have this great plug in for googleearth... it shows in real time when quakes are happening (within an hour)... if they happened in the last day.. or the last week and it really gives you an idea of pattern as well..

normally, the bigger ones dont happen in Nv.. but around.. if you start in the mexically area and draw a line up through the salton sea, up the I-5 to vancouver bc, then draw a line that goes over to yellow stone, then back down to mexically, that covers most of them.

looks to me like the whole san andreas kinda moved a bit in the last day or two.

sorry, i can't find a link for the plug in

ok quick addition..

since the original 6.0 (as it seems to have been downed a bit)
there have been 6 after shocks at various places around the mountain.

There is a beautiful example of an earthquake scarp/ fault where the land lifted 15 feet or more as the result of an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude occurring in the 1950's about 40 miles east of Fallon, Nevada near US 50.

Also Nevada is extremely mountainous. And there are an awful lot of hot springs in that state. So, yes, Nevada is very geologically active and an earthquake there is not surprising.

that's a good one to have handy no matter where you live.
look at this link at least once a day and you'll start to see patterns of frequency , grouping , high numbers of quakes and also things like no quakes for long period's of time where you would expect activity

Here is another one I like to visit almost daily that shows worldwide earthquake data.

I wonder what the odds are for a 5.0+ quake around the Yellowstone region within the next few days?

There is nothing in that area except for a couple of po-dunk casino's and some trailer parks. I used to live near Salt Lake City, and we went out that way all the time to gamble. Truly some of the most desolate land I have ever seen.
