US urges reform as Castro quits

Fidel Castro has not been seen in public since his operation in July
US President George W Bush has called on Cuba to prepare for free elections after Fidel Castro's announcement that he is retiring on health grounds. The ailing communist leader, who is 81 and has not been seen in public since surgery in July 2006, said he would not accept a new term as president.

First i've heard of this so far haven't seen any chater so thought i'd see what your first impressions were.

Myself I think we should have dropped embargos a long time ago as these people have no ability to harm others. I think the only reason why there are still embargos is because of the rediculous ego of the U.S.

Anyway should be interesting to see how this pans out and if elections will be held at all as Mr Castro's brother Raul might just step in and take over.
