I am sorry for the double post, but I wanted to clarify that the book my friend brought home was the softcover Simon version found in almost all bookstores. Like mentioned above, I believe it has at least an ounce of accuracy in it. From my personal experience, I believe it to be dangerous for one's reality. With that being said, it took me a while to recover from the events, and from the strange synchronocities afterwards, and the over-all occultish buzz that seemed to loom over my being for a while after. My life has been getting back to normal over the past year, and I've been experiencing some "good" luck and ask the divine everyday to shower me with love, light, and wisdom. Some of you seem to have a better understanding of this stuff, and seem somewhat experienced. To you, I ask, if you could please private message a bit of advice, any at all would be greatly appreciated.

Yes..It is my opinion that once you study the Al Azif, and start delving into contacting these entities, once you know about "Them", They in turn know about you. If you get my meaning.
Some folks are better off leaving such things alone, and stay in the Light.

I read the book back when I was 13 years old and dabbling in the dark stuff a wee bit.
I found it utterly laughable.

A good read if you want a good chuckle into what some people will believe in.

I've read most of the Necronomicons floating around, and for me the only genuine one is the one by Simon (I haven't seen the Giger one yet, but I love his work).
I'm not saying it's the ACTUAL one written by Abdul Alhazred, but it is the only work on Sumerian magic I know of, and it's gods or whatever, do bear some striking similarities to the entities Lovecraft writes about.
Just wish I had the time, space and guts to try it out. Lol!
Many people who have tried the workings contained therein say they work, so I think the fictional aspect of it's origin needn't matter too much in their case.
After all, John Dee acquired the Enochian system via inspired means, as did Aleister Crowley, so I don't see any reason why Lovecraft couldn't have done the same, albeit unconsciously.
Most people who call themselves Chaos magicians say they invent their own systems, so in this light it appears you could create a system based on South Park if you so desired.

Jus' my twopen'rth.

I.A.

The Simon Necronomicon is believed by many to have been written by Peter Levenda.

He claims that he only translated it but Levenda has a very colourful past within the occult community in the 70s.

Simon who was a character created by Levenda would give teachings regularly at Herman Slater’s Magickal Childe.

Peter Levenda, aka "Simon." Charming, soft-spoken and aloof, well-versed in all aspects of occult theory and practice, he eased his way to the center of the scene. The Necronomicon was a team effort. Herman provided the sponsorship, while the design and layout were the work of Jim Wasserman of the OTO, a raving cokehead from Jersey named Larry Barnes whose daddy had the production facilities and a fellow who called himself Khem Set Rising (who also designed the sigils). The text itself was Levenda’s creation, a synthesis of Sumerian and later Babylonian myths and texts peppered with names of entities from H.P. Lovecraft’s notorious and enormously popular Cthulhu stories. Levenda seems to have drawn heavily on the works of Samuel Noah Kramer for the Sumerian, and almost certainly spent a great deal of time at the University of Pennsylvania library researching the thing. Structurally, the text was modeled on the wiccan Book of Shadows and the Goetia, a grimoire of doubtful authenticity itself dating from the late Middle Ages.

From here

Recently "Simon" has released a book about this whole episode. Link
He was also on Coast to Coast Am back in August 2006. Link

In the interview he used a Voice modifier on the phone and a wacky accent so as to not reveal his identity but it was plain to most that it was just Levenda with an accent.

Levenda has had an interesting past, and has some illuminating info in his Sinister Forces trilogy, but is not thought of fondly in a lot of the occult forums that i have perused over the years.

There is a tape that has been converted to an mp3 of Simons original speeches given at the Magical Childe.

The mp3 can be found with a bit of looking Here

More detail about this story and the "Simon"- Peter Levenda link can be found here. Link

Not sure if this has been said, I don't want to read through all these pages, but the Necronomicon doesn't exist. It was invented in a short story by H.P. Lovecraft. If you ever see a version of it, it's just some author hoping on the name to write whatever he wants.

Hi, and thanks for the links and info.
I've already read most of the stuff on the Simon Necronomicon, a while back but I didn't know about all the Wiccan Book of Shadows stuff, when I was going into it, I was under the impression that he was still maintaining that it came from a Greek translation of a much older text.
I'll also check out the other guys you mentioned as his sources, as I am interested in Mesopotamian magic and stuff.
Fact or fiction, all in all a great trip for a good imagination.

Man, seriously that story reminded me of a good Quji board (sorry for mis-spelling) story. Those always creep me out to the max!

Did anything else ever happen that you noticed?

Oh, dear, you are WAYYYYY off on this one.
That whole Satan worship stuff is a lie created
by masons so people would be disinterested
in learning the real truth behind their secrets.
This Satan nonsense originated during the French revolution,
some masons got their heads cut and the masses were happy.
Their real "God" is named Yahbulon, and it is not Satan.
The name is a combination of different faiths and ancient
languages meaning "I am the creator father of all" or something like that.
He's the same god you and me worship, so chill down on the satanic
nonsense please. If you wanna learn about masons stop reading
books written for dis info and start reading books written by masons
dedicated towards masons. Get yourself a King James Bible too while
you're at it. I'm not saying there's nothing to satanic books,
it's always fun to open up your horizons, if not for a quick laugh.

I'm sorry guys, but even me, an anti-mason,
has to clarify ignorance sometimes.
You're welcome to chastise me and clear a few things
up for me if I eared in my path. I don't pretend to
know everything, I am but a scholar, not a master.

...all i can do as a practicing Wiccan is to agree with your post a bazillion fold...
yet, whether one belives or not, the thoughts and intentions manifested by what one gets out of any of these supposed texts absolutely will be heard...and it's certainly not something to trifle with.
Speak ye little, and listen much...don't be a fool. The power of simple intention alone is enough to manifest good and not so good...fictional tome or not.

Sethdarke- thats a cool tattoo bro. are you by any chance a Morbid Angel fan? Their lead gtr player is big into Lovecraftian lore. Oh and I'm sorry to disagree but I think most of the Satanic Bible is dead on as far as describing humans. That said you people realize that these are books and they have no value other than what you attach to them

hail Eosphorus!

LOL I guess you don't read hardly at all do you?

I can't believe how all these hermetic orders an their offshoots keep getting called Satan Worshipers

NEWSFLASH, just because something is ritual based doesn't mean it's Satanic!

Come on now, get a life

most of the people that are freaking out over these fairytales and books can't grasp anything outside what they are taught. Why dont we treat Anne Rices books as gospel too. God knows some think there is alot of truth in those books. I find it funny TBH. Let them worry about the necronomicon and LaVey..the real evil is right in front of you. I probably said hello or excuse me while we passed in the grocery store today. see you didnt know me for who I was did you?

Do you know where I can find a copy of the Unsacred texts of the Koton? Just curious. The link on unseenevil.com isn't working for me.

No sorry I don't. Just viewed this from the link I provided.

~

As for being ignorant about Masons' and Satan... well sorry for the ignorance but I have always thought the two went together.

Perhaps the symbols they both use persuaded me? A lot of articles, books have claimed the same too.

Perhaps there is some truth to that?

~

The website is enticing isn't it? Puts the fear into you so that you are intrigued or at least curious to read it.

I think I will leave it and if I come across a copy somewhere sometime I may read it. But, I won't go out of my way to obtain it.

Interesting too the amount of authors and books; which one is legit? From the responses it seems 'Simon' is.

If you were a chevy man, wouldn't you like to see what a ford is all about before you condemn it? Wanting to gain knowledge on a subject so that one could make an educated decision is always wise in my onpinion. Whether it be religion or flying to the moon, it's always best to check the facts.
