Archivist's Notes: This document is generally clear and easy to follow. It gives an update on issues arising during investigations carried out as part of Project Grudge. It then goes on to list reported sightings and in the appendices gives more detail on the current status and details of some of these sightings and the subsequent investigation.

Nice document. What got my attention is the contradiction that screams since the second page of this report. In all ufo sightings investigations the conclusion from air force was that UFOs don't represent a threat to the national security and this was the standard comment since the beginning of ufo era, meaning late 40-s. But strangely as I said in the second page of the document is a stated:

2. WARNING: This document contains information affecting the national defense of the United States within the meaning of the Espionage Law, Title 18, U.S.C., Sections 793 and 794* Its transmission or the revelation of its contents in any manner to an unauthorized person is prohibited by law.

I want to also outline the overall status of Project Grudge because it helps to understand better what was done with Blue Book. Basically as the successor this project followed the same steps as Grudge.

OVERALL STATUS .

A. Files

All of the material in ATIC that relates to sightings of unidentified aerial objects has-been reviewed and filed. All data on each sighting has been
placed in a separate folder and the folders filed chronological. There are a
total of 695 incidents. These vary from nebulus reports from questionable sources to more factual reports from reasonably reliable sources such as AF pilots, airline pilots and balloon observers. The factual details of each incident have been placed on 5m by 8 cards and these cards are being cross-indexed o All the cards have been reproduced and cross-indexing is about 50 percent completed. When this phase of the project is finished, it will be possible to make a breakdown of all reported sightings as to the predominent shapes, size, course, geographical locations, etc.

B. Location of Additional Files

During the past month, a trip was made to xWashington, D, C. to locate
additional data on sightings. It was found that both the D/l library and TCB
have such files o In the near future a trip will be made to Washington to review these files and obtain additional sighting reports.

C. Map of Sightings.

A map has been prepared,, showing all of the sightings in the United States. Colored tacks are used to designate sightings by years. The plot of sightings shows that there is a concentration of sightings in the area of:

1. Dayton, Ohio
2. Columbus, Ohio
3. White Sands, New Mexico
4. Albuquerque, New Mexico
5. Oak Ridge, Tenn,
6. Camp Hood, Texas

No conclusions can be made or other facts about the distribution of the sightings stated until a further study of the distribution of sightings has been made.
