I recently started using Firefox more and IE less, and have been generally satisfied with it. But today I was poking around Tools/Security, and was flabbergasted to see that there was a button labeled "Show Passwords".

Is it just me, or is this an un-secure feature?

Passwords are only stored there if you ask the browser to save your passwords.
It's a convenience for many sites that aren't that important but you still need to log-in.

For best security you keep your passwords in your head. Also, Firefox won't allow you to save a password for an encrypted site such as your banking log-in, at least mine won't.

Ahh...you mean when FF asks me "do you want Firefox to remember this password"?

I did see that my bank password isn't stored, so that's some comfort.

I just "UnCheck" all the "Store Password" features in FF...

I don't trust that to any program..

(Besides I would rather forget them myself and go through heck to remember them. Much more fun)

If you click on 'Tools' you will see Clear Private Data at the bottom of the drop down menu.

You can configure this and clear your data as you please.
