I think he is talking about the two flat rocks that have butressed up against eachother. Geologically explainable phenomenon I would say. Wether you went to 'Nam or not.

Some are more easily mislead than others.

But don't be mislead by the bunny hitting his head.

Is it the jagged rock I have circled here? I honestly just see a rock, but im not a geologist or any kind of expret....what do you see?

Nonetheless....that is a super cool picture!

How many other rocks do you see like that? look closely see the handle on the top, the narrow base at the bottom makes it looks like a hatch lid. Just copy paste into word zoom to 500% and look at the hinges.

Look also at the dark rock to the left - or is it a water can???

also look at the ground in front of the right wheel is that water erosion?

My suggestion here is to draw a red circle around it.

Because anyone who spends anytime looking at crypto type pictures will know that a red circle means it is real and obvious to spot

What is an artoo unit? Do you mean R2 as in R2-D2 from Star Wars?

On topic: I thought the OP was referring to the rock left center further away from the rover. It still appears too small to be anything.

Affirmative.
R2 D2 = a artoo unit.
In Star Wars geek talk.

Boy aren't we in attack mode.
Chill out.
I am sure there are operations out there to remove the stick.

Like I said. Looks like something perfectly explainable by natural processes.

Since you obviously haven't figured it out yet.
The artoo thing WAS A JOKE.

so your whole input is to laugh at the op and dis the image, not offer any explaination or useful analysis.

hohoh your so funny
look at this image
NASA'S Mars Exploration Rover Spirit captured this westward view from atop a low plateau where Sprit spent the closing months of 2007.

After several months near the base of the plateau called "Home Plate" in the inner basin of the Columbia Hills range inside Gusev Crater, Spirit climbed onto the eastern edge of the plateau during the rover's 1,306th Martian day, or sol, (Sept. 5, 2007).

tend to think this one wasn't taken on mars myself but you ight see something funny in it.

I am going to have to go with a broken down R2-D2 as well.

wow, you guys are harsh. Maybe consider some sensitivity classes. Courtesy is nice even if you don't see the same things or agree. What did Thumper's mom say? If you don't have anything nice to say, then let silence be your virtue.
Same concept, I like that better though

If you look at the second picture that shows the same 'sign' from the other side, you can see it is 'propped' up, that, thre the two rocks are not flush, but leaned together like poorly stacked cards.

Maybe the signs says to hang a left at Albuquerque. Bugs will still miss it

Not saying it is a sign, but I can see it is not your average formation. The other thing I am surpised no one said it looks like a humanoid. Maybe that is CP3O looking for his buddy R2D2.

Personally I think it looks like an old style transister radio, but who am I to judge? Just like the SUPPOSED skull it is whatever your mind creates it to be.

I am curious though...what is it that they are hiding? Proof of life on mars?

Think about it... if that is a sign post or whatever you say it is (I'm still not sure what you are saying it is), its pretty dam desolate out there don't you think for something to be put there.

Be cool if it was something, but I think you are wishful thinking is all.

Sorry. But please keep looking, I love the pics!

Me thinks this is being taken WAAAAY too seriously by some. Given the size of the equipment taking the pictures, and the distance involved that "monolith" isn't very big. Infact, it's really small. Not much of a monument to a race or whatever. Though about right for a stack of rocks.
