I found this stunning clip of the northern lights on spaceweather.com, but then something caught my eye.

In the last 5 seconds there's what I was sure was a meteorite until I realized that it decelerates dramatically.

Ufo perhaps? maybe. I thought it was possibly a delay effect from the video clip but the auroras keep moving the same. Thought it was note worthy.

Is the video in real time, or is it sped up? If the latter, I could believe a plane.

Could someone who has actually witnessed the aurora borealis in person enlighten those of us who have not been so fortunate: is the movement of the Northern Lights in this video indicative of the normal speed of this phenomena?

Or is this time lapse photography?

IMHO, this would help determine if the streak of light at the end was anything other than an aircraft or a bolide.

Thanks!

It looks to me like it is a sped up video. It also comes into frame right at the end of the video, when it comes back to real time and then a pause at the end. Looks like poor timing of a plane or meteor and the slowing of the video itself.

Or the object could be traveling away from the viewer in such a way as to give the illusion that it is slowing towards the end of the video.

What's interesting is I see no apparent movement of the clouds or the stars as would be expected from time lapse photography.

I found some video of the Northern lights in real time. This video is no question a time lapse video. The object is not really moving that fast.

That was my suspicion also.

Could you post the video link that you found?

Thanks!

Sure, hope this link works. I'm still figuring out the technical parts of ATS...

Thanks!

That was really cool!

Here's a thread to help you embed videos:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Basically, on a YouTube video you take the characters after the "=" sign in the url and wrap the BB Code around them this:

[ yvid]bL-NuLXByPI[/yvid ] (without the extra spaces)

Which will end up looking like this in the post:

Again, very cool!

(And I think it's an aircraft, too.)

The more I watch the original link, the more the little details that would give the qualities of an aircraft and appear.

My fault for not reviewing this video more before posting.

But i digress, If we are to uncover any and all evidence of this phenomenon, we should look at every piece of suspicious film, photography, and audio; collective input is key to uncovering any and all underlying and possibly ( and most likely probably) hidden truths.

Well, you came to the right place!

Don't hesitate to post whatever you find that raises a question.

You got lucky this time, the trolls must be sleeping...

Stars for the effort!

BTW, that's an amusing name you got for yourself! lol!

Lest I be remiss, allow me to offer you a belated welcome to ATS!

Hope to see you around, we can always use more level heads around here.

It is easy to tell how fast the video is compared to real-time!

Put your mouse over a star in the sky and watch it move away rather quickly!

For one

I have witnessed these amazing lights before, they do not move this fast.

Two

The night sky does not move that fast, we would all have motion sickness and Im sure gravity would be affected if the earth rotated this fast!

I did see the "UFO" in the film, and thought the same as you it was a meteorite, but then saw it decelerate and the movie cut abruptly.

Was there a reason for the movie to cut short?

This does not look like a normal aircract, even if the video is sped up, I do not see this being anything usual.

Nice thread
Star and Flag 4 you
