InfraGard is an information sharing and analysis effort serving the interests and combining the knowledge base of a wide range of members. At its most basic level, InfraGard is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the private sector. InfraGard is an association of businesses, academic institutions, state and local law enforcement agencies, and other participants dedicated to sharing information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States.

I was taken aback by this story today which identified a collaborative FBI sponsored group called INFRAGARD, people in the private sector appointed by the FBI to snoop, report, and react to anything suspicious. These high profile businesses make up about 300 of the Fortune 500\'s top corps. These 23,000 secretive businessmen makeup 86 chapters in the U.S and report anyone or anything they deem suspicious to the FBI, receiving daily info from the bureau,info that you and I are not privy to receive. What disturbed me even more was that these people can, in a time of martial law, shoot to kill without legal reprisal. And until recently, no one knew about it though it was started in 1996.
