It seems that the powers that be couldn't quash the story one way, so they have found another. No telling what the city and the newspaper were promised to shut this story down. No businessman would want to stop a continuing story of worldwide fame that has most positively affected their local economy. Watch the town soon get a lucrative federal project expanded or built there, which is the feds way of buying them off.

I regret that Ms. Joiner has become a victim of this event. Should she be willing to move to Oklahoma, I will give her a job. I also must note that her confiscated computer has my name and email and the names and email addresses of many others on it.

We must be vigilant and not let the story die at this point. Mufon has another meeting scheduled in Stephenville next month. It'll be interesting to see if the local Rotary Club suddenly decides to shun them after agreeing to provide the meeting place.

There is always a side story, and one that follows after ... and these are always lost ... in this case, why did the councilman ask for the matter to be dropped? why the newspaper wants its most famous reporter in recent time, to pack up and leave immediately? These types of stories are never delved into, perhaps because the juice is not there?

I wonder what would happen if some us decided to call the councilman and demand and answer to his actions, same for the editor of the E-T? 5-6 calls a day - no harassment, just legitimate questions - for a few days would definitely rile anyone up ....

And now I go back to being comfortably numb ....

I strongly disagree with your assessment of the Texan.

1. I find his story, his personality, his manner, his style of communicating, his language, his idioms . . . all exceedingly congruent.

2. He sounds exactly like a lot of my Texas relatives. I have no trouble believing every word he says. I say that as a Texan and as a psychologist.

3. It sounds like your assessment is far too weighted by bias to give the Texan a fair . . . even benefit of the doubt. Skepticism is wise to a point. Making of it a religion is not wise.

4. The business about him not being a sophisticated techy is congruent with how I read him right off before I read about that. He's just not. It's not exactly a sin. It does NOT mean he's an idiot. It does NOT mean he's deceptive. He's just not a techy nerd. He's a cowboy/rancher. Lots of incredibly hard working and very decent Texans are the same.

5. Seems to me that with the attitudes of folks hereon who SHOULD BE GIVING HIM TONS OF THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT FOR QUITE A NUMBER OF DAYS TO A FEW WEEKS . . . are about as cheeky as the FEDs harrassing him.

6. We have an ATSer who's in contact with the reporter directly in contact with the Texan. But that's not good enough. The incredulous skepticism is FULL COURT PRESS--FINGER ON THE STERNUM FIERCE, IN A FELLOW ATSer's FACE AND RELENTLESS. Sheesh. That's not necessary. And, I think it's violating the spirit of the TC.

7. Info is coming out naturally--it TENDS TO BE SLOW in such situations. Given all the givens, that's wise, fitting, normal, sane. The relentless hostility, incredulity, skepticism is well beyond cheeky and to me, less than strictly rational. I also don't find it overly polite or compassionate.

my 2 cents

Sorry, I'm going to have to jump to conclusions here. This guy is milking it for what its worth. Sorry, but anyone here on ATS or anyone who has video of a UFO usually puts them up ASAP. This guy is not doing that, which in turn makes me think its all bogus. What would be the reasonings to not put it up? people say safety? well wouldn't you be more safe exposing it before someone can snatch it from u for NOBODY to see? Until I see the video or pictures of this thing he describes, I'm not going to buy into this story. Because right now that's all it really is, a story.

Agree with every thing just said. I have no reason to not take Mr. Sorrells at his word at this point. Ms. Joiner's articles have also helped in understanding where Mr. Sorrells is coming from, and the type of person he is. Just because I'm accepting his word because there is no evidence to reject it does not make me gullible, nor does it mean that I'm declaring his described experience as 100% fact and proven. It just means, no one has given me information to dispute his word to date.

And I have absolutely NO CLUE what him being a Texan has to do with whether he can tell the truth or not. Bein's I went down there, met some of these people, and found them to be just like the neighbors I grew up with and live by today kind of makes me take the insinuation there is some geographic link to lying personal, and I'm choosing to be offended by it at this point.

I never have figured out why living in the country, knowing how to grow, harvest and hunt your own food, and knowing how to work on your own car places you at a lower IQ level than some one who has decided to live their life surrounded by sidewalks and dependent on you, and the chain of middle "morons" (from farmers to harvesters to truck drivers to grocery store workers) to feed your uptight arses.

Anyway - I hope Ms. Joiner is given the opportunity to pursue what I am feeling is a personal desire to continue to report and write in this area. I think after the numerous witnesses she was able to interview about this case, she has gotten a full-fledge case of the ufology bug and I think she has the compassion to tell people's stories in a respectful, and might I add COMPLETE, manner.

I live fairly close to Mr. Sorrells and have no reason to doubt his story. As perhaps a bit of a "redneck" myself, my take is that he is being honest and forthcoming. A background check has shown him to be nothing but a hardworking, honest citizen. The town constable vouched for him as well. Until I am shown any reason not to believe him, I will.

I was also in contact with Ms. Joiner, and have sent the story of her termination to the mass media. We'll see whether they run with it or not. Indeed, Joiner did a marvelous job of covering the Stephenville event. Every newspaper has an editor. If they really wanted her to not write of the U.F.O. event anymore they could have simply told her. No story is ever published without editorial approval. Someone has suddenly brought pressure to bear on the owners of the Stephenville Empire-Tribune, I guarantee it.

Strange really. By harrassing Sorrell to that extent, and by compounding it with attempting to kill further publication of the story, they have only succeeded in giving the whole episode more creedence and more legs than it had before. What ever they are worried about this sighting 'revealing' must have been quite serious, for them to run the risk of creating an event that people will look at and investigate for years to come.

I think this is one of those sightings/stories that will go down in the annals of UFO history as one of those rare spectacular events....along the lines of Rendlesham, Roswell, and the Belgium sightings of the early 90s.

I think it's time for that nice lady to start thinking of writing a book

I´m so excited to hear how officials are going to dampen these upcoming articles. This kind of harrasment is outrageous! So you can basically fill papers with nonsense but when your write about UFOs you get fired no matter if the papers are selling record high.

I really hope that the stephenville witnesses unite and put up a homepage. Wouldnt even mind if they were accepting donations for securing their living and collecting money for publications and press expenses. These people seem sincere to me, I wouldnt be surprised if they got extensive support from public when this comes out from the media. Hopefully the message gets through to Angelie and Ricky that they are backed up by hundreds of people from wich some are even offering concrete help to them.

This could be the beginning of the final disclosure of this UFO debate!

ps. oh and btw. have you noticed that none of the comments on empire-tribune guestbook come through. i suppose they have received hundreds of angry mails/entries today.

I sent them a pretty nasty email and they told me I don't know what I'm talking about and to never contact the Empire Tribune ever again.

I replied "don't worry, I you'll never hear from me again after what you did to Mrs. Joiner..."

More to come. NPR is going to run an article. I hope this makes it to CNN, FOX, and the AP soon. It should.

Harassment of a UFO witness and denial of freedom of the press to a journalist. What's next....?

Makes me just wonder when did they exclude UFOs and talking about little green men out of the freedom of the press.

This story just keeps getting better and better or worse and worse, depending on the view one takes. I'm giving a flag to this thread, I'll be back everyday, reading what has been added, I hope this thread goes to 50 pages.

Avenger, Very nice of you to offer a job to someone you've never met, because they've just lost theirs. I believe she was wrongfully terminated.

I too believe someone is putting on enormous pressure to quash this story, hummmmmmmmmm, wonder who that could be?

Well for one thing, the person who contacted Ricky could have not been Air Force at all, but a civilian contracted to do it. That would mean the military couldn't be framed for it.

I'm in contact with Mrs. Joiner. Things are working their way along. If it all goes my way, this story will be all over the nation come Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Everyone keep your eyes open for articles and post them here.

DOES ANYONE LIVE NEAR DALLAS/FORT WORTH TEXAS????

If so, watch CBS 11 News tonight at 10pm.

"CBS 11 uncovers a Texas UFO mystery, and the usual government explanations don't fit this time."

It's listed at the top of their web site: cbs11tv.com...

I bet it's about Ricky.

If Ricky's receiving this much harressment its got to be over what he recorded on his cellphone. I have to say Ricky needs to circulate the video to as many places as fast as possible.

Wanna fight back?

Official email for the sacrificial lamb Air Force Public Affairs 'genius' who is fronting the story: [email protected]

Ricky S,
Buy some commercially available battery powered lasers. Point them at the cockpit of those annoying aircraft. Sit back and watch the fun.

Please refresh this old man's memory. Your FOIA request was for U.S. Air Force training records on January 8?
