My girlfriend and I are tying the knot on June 19, 2004.
Wedding plans seem to be going smoothly so far.
It's the honeymoon thats the problem. I'm not sure where to go. As it seems now my honeymoon budget is somewhere in the park of $5000. I origionally planned to go to Cancun for 5 days, but I heard it was the rainy/typhoon season. Cancun seems perfect besides the stated. Atlantis on Paridice Island looks interesting too.
Any ideas / thoughts?

Thank You very much.
We have been together on and off for almost 15 years.
We also have three kids together, so we figured, what the hell.
We have obviously stood the test of time and children, not to mention I love her more than life itself.

Congrats!

I just tied the knot on Jan 31st myself!

Great idea, we were going to do that, but didn't quite have the dough..... You can get some great all-inclusive deals, so that you don't have to worry about finances the whole time...and that's really the way to go...

Well brother. Glad you asked. I just got married 4 months ago (Nov 03). We went to the Bahamas and spent 14 days. We did every adventure there was to do and had the best time. I would not recommend Atlantis if you are on a budget like that. We went there to tour the place. I will sum it up like this. Its nice - but kinda like a vegas casino (it is in fact a casino). They have an awsome world renoun saltwater aquarium (but you get over that in about an hour). The pool waterslide area is cool (but you can pay and go visit for the day to experience that). The problem with Atlantis is it is very very very very expensive for every little thing. For example a bottle of water is $5 buck.. Burgers fries and drinks for 2 - $25-30 bucks. You basically feel raped at every angle at Atlantis. And its not very romantic!

If I may make a suggestion from a man who just honeymooned in Nassau Bahamas. I had the opportunity to go all the various resorts. By far the best for couples is Sandals Royal Bohamian in Nassau. First off, the place is all inclusive so you pay one price and everything is included, drinks, food, water sports.. You can arrange day trips for extra $ from the hotel. For example we went on day excurions to swim with dolphins (wifes favorite), powerboat adventure to snorkel, feed stingrays, feed sharks, feed wild iguanas (my favorite), and so much more, The adventures for two are very reasonable (around $100 -200 per experience for the both of you). We did around 5 day long adventures for $800 - all included food and drink.. What a deal!! The place was hella romantic - best beach in nassau and only takes couples. The food was amazing. 5 restuarants that each kick ass. Go to thier website and check this place out. I dont know how long you plan on staying, but I paid $2500 for 5 days at the hotel. We booked over expdia early to get the best prices and airfare included. This place was worth every penny and it felt great to feel like we got our money worth. If you book early, make sure you book a room overlooking the Ocean - you will not regret that on your honeymoon.. I am attaching some pics from their website. Oh yeah, and the staff were the nicest most cordial helpful people I have ever encountered while on vacation. I think you will be bummed at Atlantis or anywehere else in Nassua. Check this place out - you will not regret it! Feel free to message me if you have questions or want to chat about it.. All I can say is this, origianlly went for 7 days. We loved Sandals Royal Bohamian so much, we said Fruck it and stayed another 7 days. Once in a lifetime Bro>> Peace.

Not if you do one of the all-inclusive deals, Sandals also has such deals....one set price, includes meals, etc.

Check out the US Virgin Islands. Since it is the US, no passport and all that stuff. Pretty good rates and absolute paradise. St. John is great!

Congrats!

I hope your marriage goes well, and congradulations.

If you do not get seasick and can fork up the money going on a nice luxury cruise would be a nice honeymoon. I know this since my mother said she wished she had been taken to one while we were there, instead of on a fishing/golfing trip where it rained the whole time, and all she could think of was why did she ever marry the idiot who took her here. Whatever you do, plan a vacation you both will like, with EQUAL input, that way you both can enjoy it, and not have one of you bitter about how you hated the honeymoon, for years to come.

I suggest investing the money and going camping at some nice spot for a week or two. Much cheaper and economical, no matter how you look at it.

$5000 for 5 days????? Holy crap! Be sure to shop around. My (now ex) girlfriend and I went to Japan for over three weeks and everything cost about $6000 a few years ago.

It's not at $5000 any more, which is why we decided to keep it more local. Had to spend a little more on the wedding than expected. Oh well, no big deal.
