If you belong to SETI, then you know what applied computing is. Taking applied computing into consideration, how probable do you think it is, that the government would turn to boards like ATS and use them for "applied thinking"?
Presenting a post and taking the best theories or ideas to use in the war against terror, or many other projects for that matter .

interesting thought. I guess they could/might be using ATs as a sounding board so to speak. You could pose a question regarding terrorists and see what the repsonse is. You could even ask what types of attacks are possible. It'd be like getting a fresh point of view.

could/should they? yeah. especially if u get a number of sites like this, where peopel are so devoted to the topics. i bet weve got more people more obsessed with mars than nasa does, so its way worth it.

your original question - would they? no, i doubt it, but it is possible, if someone 'smart' thought of it. by smart i mean commonly intelligent.

theyd probably work something out with the head, tho, just to keep things confidential. that part would suck tho, itd probably end up as the govt checking all the posts for any sort of material they find useful (conspiracy theories, controlled substances, etc) thatd be a drag. id love it if they just did it anonymously, and moderators bitched em over
