I have to be honest and say i have never liked his stuff. For some reason his music just doesn't do it for me.
I am a fan of a huge variety of music, old and new, but from the first time i heard Bat out of Hell I just switched off to his stuff completely -
though i know a lot of people who like his stuff.
If you're gonna list Hot Patootie, ya gotta see it as well. Meatloaf wasn't just a good singer, he knows how to ham it up for the camera. The song
is much more convincing if you can see it.
I saw Meat Loaf live sometime in the late 80's at Newcastle City Hall.
I had seen video's of him live previously and to be honest he had been crap and as a result wasn't really looking forward to it. (I had seen Alice
Cooper at Whitley Bay Ice Rink the week before and was going to see The Cult at the same venue the following week).
Meat Loaf was outstanding and didn't miss a beat or note all night.
After playing the usual encore he did a second encore of a medley of old Rock N Roll numbers which lasted approximately 30mins.
I don't listen to him much but he was fantastic live and deserves a lot of respect.
