Back when I was around 7 or 8 I witnessed a strange phenomena in my house. At night I would hear what sounded like pots and pans being clashed together in the kitchen around midnight. It would stop after about 15-30 minutes and was never very loud. You might say it was the house creaking, but it was a definative metal sound. It only happened for a short while, which was directly after my father died. Personally I believe that it was him. He used to come down at midnight have a glass of sprite and make some food.

I don't doubt this story at all, mainly because when my mom was younger, she had a similar experience. She lived in this old (Tudor, I think) house with her siblings and grandmother. She says that at night, you could hear people talking downstairs. Curious.

Apparantly in her grandmother's room, the chest drawers used to open and shut by themselves.
I guess if pots moving around seemingly by themselves is possible, then why not drawers too? Mind you, it was my mom's gran. She might have been a little... imaginative

The fact that your father died shortly before the occurances makes it less likely to have simply been the house creaking, I would say. Besides, since when did a creaking house sound like pots and pans being clashed together?!

It sounds more like a poltergeist than a ghost.
