I don't doubt this story at all, mainly because when my mom was younger, she had a similar experience. She lived in this old (Tudor, I think) house
with her siblings and grandmother. She says that at night, you could hear people talking downstairs. Curious.
Apparantly in her grandmother's room, the chest drawers used to open and shut by themselves.
I guess if pots moving around seemingly by
themselves is possible, then why not drawers too? Mind you, it was my mom's gran. She might have been a little... imaginative
The fact that your father died shortly before the occurances makes it less likely to have simply been the house creaking, I would say. Besides, since
when did a creaking house sound like pots and pans being clashed together?!
