Brattleboro to vote on arresting Bush, Cheney

www.rutlandherald.com

Brattleboro residents will vote at town meeting on whether President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should be indicted and arrested for war crimes, perjury or obstruction of justice if they ever step foot in Vermont.

The Brattleboro Select Board voted 3-2 Friday to put the controversial item on the Town Meeting Day warning.

This is great news on the home front. At least there are some communities not completely asleep at the wheel. Its unfortunate nothing will be done about their petition. It seems no one cares, they got bills and debt to worry about...

Daims said the most grievous crime committed by Bush and Cheney was perjury — lying to Congress and U.S. citizens about the basis of a war in Iraq.

He said the latest count showed a total of 600,000 people have died in the war.

The death count has been rumored to be above a million including Iraqi civilians. However, the military doesn't like to count how many it has killed, only their own casualties. A little messed up if you ask me.

Daims also said he believed Bush and Cheney were also guilty of espionage for spying on American people and obstruction of justice, for the politically generated firings of U.S. attorneys.

He forgot to mention the countless war crimes and crimes against humanity. However, I think grand perjury is enough for anyone to be fired, especially when they 'rule' a country.

"Everybody I talked to wanted Bush to go," he said, noting that even members of the local police department supported the drive.

Yay local police getting in on the action. Good to hear.

Some more great news:

He said the idea is spreading: Activists in Louisville, Ky., are spearheading a similar drive, and he said activists were also working in Montague, Mass., a Berkshires town.

I guess if every single town in the country, or at least a majority of the towns would at least bring awareness to Congress that the people are really fed up with their shenanigans. You would think they'd get it when their approval rating is below the President. Guess they really don't give a #, eh?

These people certainly have balls, that is for sure. But as for getting these guys impeached without Congress and the House's support...Not going to happen.

The politicians in power (democrats included) have proven time and time again they are not willing to stand up to the Bush Administration. They are cowards, tried and true. The democrats came to power in 2006 on an anti-war ticket and since then have done nothing.

They don't care about the country, they just want to get reelected.

Daims had no compunction in comparing Bush and Cheney with one of the most notorious people in history.

"If Hitler were still alive and walked through Brattleboro, I think the local police would arrest him for war crimes," Daims said.

Awesome . If groups in every state did this . It would be sure to get some attention . My applause to this town.

Agreed. It's probably going to take small town uprisings like this in order to get the ball rolling. As we've seen, our congress is too cowardly to do anything on their own. Hopefully other towns will follow suit, and we'll have a snow-ball effect. I'm not holding my breath, but one can hope. lol

I agree it is great news. I do however wonder if this would fall under the "thought crime" bill.

I personally would love to see more of this in every community across the U.S. as well as making a case to remove a majority of people from Congress.

Lets hope someone tries to stand against them . It will for sure rally more troops for our side. Maybe we need to use that "thought crime" bill in our favor?

What AMAZES me is how Sri Oracle has quickly managed to find a full list of cities and towns that are doing the same thing, but NOT A SINGLE WORD about this issue can make the evening "news"

I gotta say Sri, that was right on time my friend. Thanks.
But don't forget biggie either for digging this up.

The fact of the matter is all of those warmongering nuts need to go. Very. Far. Away. From. Here.

Hey, I got an idea: Since TU24 isn't going to hit, do you think we could strap all of them on the back of that thing and send them to the other side of the universe?

lol, I just realized what you meant by that. We ALL are the media. The alternative media. The real media. Good point.

I'd give my right eye to see mention of this on the MSM. Not that I think that would happen, but still I thought i'd throw the offer of my right eye out there in case any of them are reading this

On another note however, I think a change of location is in order. Sounds like a great place to live, people actually allowed to express their opinions on the state of things.

i'd be boiling my water and growing my own food from now on if i were them... oh ya, and don't go out at night and stay off state highways and don't use the phone or buy catcher in the rye... then and only then....

This isn't going to get them arrested, but I think it sends a nice message. We can't prove their intentions but we let them know that there is doubt in our minds, and they need only to slip up just the smallest bit for those doubts to be confirmed. They have no more leeway with us on mistakes.

What happened with the Madame Speaker? What I would love to find out is what kind of a deal was made to get the Dem's to stand down on Impeachment? Someone had some political capital to play on the table with this...I wonder if we will ever know what the deal that was obviously cut was all about.

Kudos on the 87 American Cities that voted for Impeachment. This administration should have met that fate many years ago.
