Polytheism

I'd be interested to hear people's(specifically theists) thoughts about the concept of polytheism.


Personally, I've always found the idea of polytheism to make more sense than monotheism. I mean, there's more than one of everything, why should divinity be any different? Not to mention the fact that polytheism lends itself to far fewer paradoxes than a single omnipotent, benevolent God does.

I've also wondered what it'd be like if more polytheistic pantheons had survived throughout the ages(outside of modern day reconstructionism, of course); it'd be very interesting to see how the politics of polytheistic countries would be like.

So, what are your thoughts on polytheism?
