I don't think so. I think people who are currently not interested in UFOs will become very interested in them and they will pay more attention to the sky. I also think the general public will demand the government to contact the aliens.

Informercals would have a new cash cow!! But those of us that already know well no big deal.

having hands on technology that could change our economy from hard fossil fuels to much more safe technology okay by your standards then you have
already pretty much submitted to the will of the powerful.

Did you know that your country was supposed to be a democratic country? A country for the people, decisions to positively influence your lives? If you didn't I wouldn't be surprised.

If they haven't been able to communicate with the pilots of these crafts any better than us on this site have...
If they haven't gotten instructions or advice from the beings onboard...
If they simply say: "yeah, there are UFOs flying around."

Yes, yes it does. It changes everything because how many people must be
humiliated for claiming they seen an alien? If they came out tomorrow and said it it wouldn't change too many lives but it would impact our society. It would shift budgets into more space programs and there would be more demand for it.

I will go to my job next Monday, same as normal. My daughter will still go to school next Monday. Nothing in our daily lives will change. And we will still have nothing but questions about why those crafts are in our skys and what they want with Earthlings.
We push so hard for government honesty, and I personally want it too --- because it is right. But would it really affect any of our lives or answer any of our questions?
i mean besides people who have seen UFOs and spoken about it not being called crazy anymore...

there are a group of people at some round table that has this very discussion and weighting the pros and cons,
if you ask a behavioral psycologist or a philosopher this very same question they will arrive at the same answer.

I don't see how that has anything to do with disclosure. There are already models to succesfully produce free clean energy, that were invented by human Earthlings. They are not produced, because the people you need to produce them have already invested in fossil fuels. They aren't about to go re-tool the factory for something they can't turn a profit on.

Not a lot... It would make the population an insignificant planet feel a bit more insignificant.

The government to state that they know of ET life visiting earth would need a lot more than documentation of history and UFO reports. Surely they would need evidence before being able to distinctively say that what they are saying is true. This is why people are more interested in the S-4 and Roswell reports, if they have these craft then that could be very sufficient evidence, but anyone could just come out with "Aliens are real and have been visiting earth".

If they had enough evidence to show the truth of it then I think people will act differently Dependant on how they think. I don't think it's ever going to be possible for the US Government to say that Roswell was true and they did capture a UFO, think of the reaction of people around the world if they came out with that.. "America hides UFO information for over 60 years". I feel this would create wars amongst countries more so than anything else, due to anti-America Government countries (or people) thinking they had made it up in order to create a NWO. This is why in my opinion they are trying to get evidence from space itself.

But I would like to point out that you are already debating belief systems while present ET is just a hypothetical. We all know that we see this all the time on ATS. Just imagine how intense and widespread the battles for justification between belief systems would be if present ET became an injected fact.

This line of thinking is why I truly wonder if belief systems, in general, are part of the reason information of a particularly pivotal element cannot be just 'dropped' on the public.

(And I am in no way casting judgment on any particular belief system here.)

If the Gov't admitted to the existence of UFO's, that would destroy their credibility completely. People would then ask themselves "If they concealed this from us, I wonder what other secrets thy have hidden from us." All conspiracy theories would then become reasonable.

They have alot to lose, and nothing to gain. Sounds like a good enough reason to keep from disclosing any sort of ET life or Mysteries concerning space.

Its similar to when you tell a lie and it just keeps escalating, this applies to the Gov't. Not particularly about ET's conspiracy but about all the other issues they constantly deny.

One change would be that there would be a lot more people on cryptozoological and Ghost sites saying..

Show me the proof

I think it could be very interesting, they disclose the fact they're aware of alien visitation but have had no contact. Then I could see the aliens coming down and saying "well since you finally acknowledged the fact we've been visiting you, now it's time to meet and greet". Who knows?

At least then it would change the way the world looks at a lot of us, you could talk about seeing a UFO or even of being abducted and not have other people treat you like a loon.

It is interesting because if the government is in on it with the ET's so to speak then that would mean the ET's are really no different in their mindset than our civilization.

If you think about it they would have their own politics, secret societies, betrayl, murder, war, ect... No different than humans I suppose.

As advanced as ET's may be and as some have said they are their thinking must not be too advanced to want to keep us in the dark... What is the agenda there if at all?

To say the general public would shrug their shoulders and carry on with their lives without a care to the existance of ET's is a cop-out. The uninformed still hold to the notion that life in other solar systems and their advanced technology is hypothetical. I guess if you can't grasp it, why bother reaching?
Everyone knows that the world isn't populated by well-meaning people looking out for one another, taking fairness as a priority over opportunism.
For the American government to acknowledge the existance is ET beings, would exemplify the stubborn propensity a majority of people have to continue with their transgressive ways. The American constitution gives every person a right to bare arms. If you are without fear, and have no intent to harm or kill another person, then what is the gun for? Why are all black people from Africa when in America? Besides maintaining power and financial superiority, what need would the government have for oil?

All of the current means of flight in this day and age would be rendered obsolete, along with the combustible engine. Nuclear reactors, coal burning and river dams would soon become archaic.

The fundamentalists, religious and superstitious population would left without their doctorine to justify their narrow view of how things should be.

Society as a whole would undergo a "levelling off" period, people reluctant to make the necessary changes, giving up the sources of wealth that have kept them rich for so long. The national debt, and overwhelming credit deficit that has built up would sink the economy completely, because the nature of the beast will never change.

It would be ideal for everyone to carry on as usual, and just adopt their new technology with a promise to use it for good and not evil, but who is kidding who? With a president like George Bush, it's blatantly obvious that a utopian America could never exist.
