KOKOMO, Ind. - Police say a man accidentally shot himself in the groin as he was robbing a convenience store. A clerk told police a man carrying a semiautomatic handgun entered the Village Pantry Tuesday morning demanding cash and a pack of cigarettes.

The clerk put the cash in a bag and as she turned to get the cigarettes, she heard the gun discharge.

Police say surveillance video shows the man shooting himself as he placed the gun in the waistband of his pants. The clerk wasn't injured.

A short time later, police found Derrick Kosch, 25, at a home with a gunshot wound to his right testicle and lower left leg. He was expected to have surgery at a hospital.

If it was just his testicle he may just be fine, and be able to use his penis if he's lucky enough.

Great now that he has committed armed robbery and discharged the weapon (though not purposely) he will get to spend plenty of time in a cell with a “friend”. It is really too bad this does not happen to more criminals who take advantage of a quick way to cash and instill fear in those they are robbing.

In the end I guess you get what you deserve, but some appear to get it sooner than others.

On a side note I would love to see the video of this guy shooting his gun.

Karma is a biotch ain't it. Well, he ended up getting what he deserved. Everything would have been fine, but he just NEEDED those Cigarettes. If he just took the loot and ran, he wouldn't be missing one of his berries.

this just proves im right in thinking its moronic to stick a gun in your waistband seriously use a pocket or might i suggest using "gasp" a freaking holster that is what there for.

There was no bullet, it was a DEW and a CD! Furthermor, how could an untrained thug aim a gun through the pocket lining? Even trained experts have trouble hitting something that small without being able to see it, so how could a thug!

The blood on his pants was proof of squibs, it was a controlled demolition. It had to be, as soon as it happened...it was covered up and the evidence was carted away!

That would-be robber was lucky.

that is hilarious, I really do hope that guy wins one of the Darwin awards. I think that he provided the sweetest form of justice, unfortunately it was to himself. All store owners across the country have to be rofl over this.

I think it's in the third one of those books, some fool stole an old WW2 pistol, tried to shoot someone in an armed robbery, nothing happened, and he looked down the barrel to see what was wrong with it......
