Most Psychopathic Weapon System Ever Designed

The real nightmare fuel is the fact that various states are revisiting their favorite bioweapon programs. They are digging up historic diseases and genetically modifying them. Things like ebola, plague, rinderpest. stuff that could well end human civilization.

Most of them are particularly nasty ways to die. Any of the Hemorrhagic Fevers for example. Bleeding to death in your lungs; taking maybe 3 weeks to finally go tits up. Or bubonic pustules that rupture and ooze death to all who come near you. Or even some kind of dysentery that causes you to defecate yourself to death.

When I saw the title I was thinking SLAM or bust!

if i were going to think of the most twisted weapon i could think of that we could make now, it would be a hemorrhagic virus with a LONG incubation period and an almost 100% infection rate and it would be passed by air,touch,fluids.

i saw an old military medical training video on hemorrhagic fevers with real people, and it was awful.

i could imagine marburg mixed with something like the flu or common cold to make transmission airmorn and easy.

a handful of people with a bunch of airline tickets and a day or 2 at each location could end the world. by the time they showed symptoms millions, if not billions would be infected

One half Kilo of Botulinum toxin, spread evenly over the land mas, kills everything that breaths.

Oh trust me I know full well the horrors of biological weapons I wrote a paper in college on the subject and scared the bejesus out of myself with the info I was finding. If you’re going to discuss the most sinister biological weapons the Ruskies were developing agents that would not show up on our BW/CW screens and made an even nastier truck of a BE agent that was activated by disinfectants. You drop your cluster munitions with a combination of easily detectable and not so nefarious agents with the stuff that activates on decontamination and you have one hell of a mess.
It’s just the concept of SLAM that I find “appealing” and as far as nuclear weapons delivery systems it was definently one of the more sinister concepts.

It’s true that that amount could kill pretty much everything off but a half kilo spread around the globe would be too low of concentration to cause truely massive casualties.

that's what i worry about the most, NoKo launching some ICBM or IRMB and to the world it looks like a failed test but in reality they used a high altitude break up of a warhead or what appears to be a breakup to distribute a pathogen into the air streams of the world.

It is a pretty well known fact that there are genome and other genetically targeting pathogens, in South Africa they were developing pathogens that could target Apartheid enemies, if NpKo got their hands on something like that it would make me very nervous.

Glad you brought up Project Coast that was definently a psychotic program, would make a Nazi blush. As far as just putting an agent into the JetStream I still don’t think the concentration would be high enough with the throw weight of their missile systems . I personally feel that a high altitude EMP strike would wreak even more havoc without the risc of an unctrolled pathogen as far as the NorKs texhnical abilites.
This is the same country that has its populous convinced that US used plague fleas against them so I suppose anything goes.

I was always told things like VX,GB,BZ etc are area denial weapons and that's why VX for instance is a oily substance with a long hang around time.

They aren't really used as a direct attack weapon like a normal shell would be.

There are persistent and non persistent agents area denial is one aspect with persistent agents. We had designs for chemical/biological bomblets for Cluster Bomb Units, in fact when we signed the treaty against CW/BW we declassified the design for said bomblets and the soviets copies them wholesale for their ongoing illegal CW/BW program. Other delivery systems used spray tanks and chemical mortar and artillery shells and of course the soviets played with making a BW/CW containing warhead for the SS-20 “Satan” ICBM. And any of these you wouldn’t use point attack but an aerial burst at an optimum altitude for dispersal, but this isn’t much different from modern air burst convientional weapons except the conviential you want to go off closer to the ground for optimum effect. I believe there were even some BW/CW mine designs kicking around now that is an area denial weapon.

Umm how about no, but if you must talk about weaponized opioids the Russians used a secret gas in the Moscow Theater Hostage Crisis to knock out the hostage takers to prevent an incident like Beslan school hostage situation. Many speculate that this gas was some form of opioid in an aerosol form, many innocent people died because the Russians would not reveal what the gas was or what might counteract its effect and civies died of respiratory distress.

Replace the act of dropping one bomb from a UAV with dropping hundreds of thousands (ie. millions of bomblets) from strategic bombers and you can depopulate an entire country.

I think you’re missing the point on these bomblets, to penetrate the armor of a tank you need reliable aiming of explosively formed penetrators. If you’re attacking troops in the open there’s no point in a attack like that, all you need is mainly HE blast effect and frag, a dumb old bomblet will kill soft skin vehicles and personnel plenty effectively without getting over complicated. Now a single small drone like in that fake kamikaze drone targeted by facial ID presentation that’s fine for targeted assasination use on the battlefield not so much.
