Is this a "voice stress detector"?
I have one of those, but it's completelly unreliable.
A simple GSR (Galvanic Skin Response) measurement is much more efficient way of measuring changes in stress levels.
It works because our palms vary in moistness depending on stress. Supposedly it's an old physiological reaction, which was supposed to help us
achieve a better grip, when we were in danger - either for climbing on a tree or for a safer grip on a weapon..
It's actually incredible, how fast these levels change, depending on a persons emotions and stress.
A GSR in combination with a heart rate and breathing monitor is a much more reliable polygraph.
