A couple of days ago I tried an experiment. I took a piece of plain white paper, and held my left hand up against it a couple of feet from my head. I was looking for any indication of my aura, and I found it. After 10 seconds or so, I saw a thin bright layer around some of my fingers. It would fluctuate, sometimes shrinking away to nothing, sometimes growing out and turning a very pale and bright shade of blue. The trick seems to be to not look directly at your hand, and to use what I can only call your "dream" eyes. Has anyone here seen auras, and what does a bright blue aura mean, if anything? Thanks.

Unfortunately the only thing I see when I hold my left hand up to the white paper is the shadow of my hand and no more.

Is it possible, because of the white paper and focussing on it that you are seeing an illusion?

Just what is your dream eye, or whatever it was you mentioned?

Hi jdposey:

Do not look at the shadow, look for what is "not there." Also let your eyes relax and do not try to focus on any one thing. It also helps if you are open to the possibility and not being too rational. I wish I could tell you how I am doing it, but I honestly don't know. I am pretty sure this is no illusion, since the experience is repeatable and consistant each time. I would almost say that the aura I am seeing behaves according to rules. Very odd.

Interesting phenomena!
Can you try to get a photo of it?
Maybe you should search the web for this Russian scientist that had some time a go took picture of this kind, then you can learn how he proceed to make the photo…but I don’t remember the name of the guy.

Hi kacou,

I've heard of a kind of camera that can take a photo of an aura. I don't know if it works, but I do now believe that they exist. I encourage you to try the experiment.

50 people have viewed this thread and not one has posted saying they have seen their aura. If any of you do, please let me know.

Interesting. When I woke from my NDE and was recovering just out of the ICU I had a nurse come into my room....she looked at me saying she could see a yellow/gold aura around my body. I think the color could have something to do with my experience.

I will try to see it myself using your techniques and report back here later.

Hi kinglizard,

Given that you have had an NDE I would be surprized if you were unable to see anything.

Regards.

Can you elaborate on how to do this? I take a white sheet of paper (lined or no?) and hold my left hand up against it a couple feet from my head? So I hold the paper with my right hand near my head and hold my left hand against the paper?

Hi Merry:

I'll try to be as specific as possible.

It shouldn't really matter which hand you do it with. Most often I have held the paper up to eye level and my hand in front of that. My hand is several inches from the paper and a couple of feet from my eyes. Where you place your hand, etc, is less important than the way you look. Try looking blankly at your hand without focusing directly on it. look just to the side of the fingers and wait for a pale lining to begin to appear. At first it looks like a white shadow of some kind. The shadow will move....

I've been trying this many years ago. I used clear blue sky as the background any managed to see something faint surrounding my hand and fingers.

But i'm afraid this is just residual images in the retina, from staring at something too long. It becomes more obvious, when the hand moves slightly, and this "aura" appears where the hand was before.

It is possible to see something, but it appears to be the result of how our eyes work.

Besides, the so called aura photography is just corona discharge from a high voltage source, connected to the arm and discharging through an insulating glass plate into a photographic film, or another, opposite charged plate, recorded by a CCD camera.

If aura exists, corona discharge isn't it. It's just a normal high voltage effect.

Glad to see I am not alone in seeing things that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

You are using your third eye (pineal gland). Most people have the ability as a child, but either forget about it or lose interest (its also quite frightening seeing things that aren't there, eh?).

I have a few threads floating around ATS about seeing your aura, let me find them.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I think thats the one I was looking for, hope it helped.

I would wait a while and i'm sure you will get some more answers on this subject.... i personally don't think i have the mental capacity to see my own aura, but i have been told that it can be seen, as you say, against a blank piece of paper. i know that different colours mean different things. i cannot remember where i read this. was once told that i had a green aura, and i read that this means i have healing power.

i'm very jealous that you can see your own aura! if i can remember correctly, i believe blue is to do with caring, peace and health. i'm not sure how i know this.

Ok lets say for instance this Aura deal is true...

Is there any purpose to it? Can one manipulate and control this aura, or does it just change colours by itself? Or is it due to the vibe or emotions your are feeling at the time.

Is there an idicator of what color auras will switch to based on emotions?

There was a book that just came out recently The Body has a Mind of It's Own: How Body Maps Help us do Nearly Everything better

It is really quite good in doing a lay person's review of the literature in how we are learning how the brain does this. The phenomenon is is part of of body mapping generated in the insula and may be responsible for why Reiki works and explaining Phantom limb syndrome as well. It is a fascinating read and really pulls together the science.

I have seen auras since I can remember, and they they are quite annoying in public situations. I can't see squat in florescent lighting, but I am pretty bother by florescent lights anyhow. I also have synesthesia, where input from different sensory experiences are cross processed in the brain. Mine is color with touch, and pain, and when I touch other people, as well as with music, so it probably makes sense that I perceive auras as well.

The down side is that I am extra sensitive to vibrations and things like florescent lights, low bass in a car a mile away, a TENS unit, and cell phone vibrations can feel very painful to me.

i'm glad someone mentioned synesthesia! is this known to be linked to auras, or is it some kind of scientific 'explanation'? please forgive my ignorance, i have very limited knowledge of this subject and would like to learn more =o) i find it very interesting that certain numbers/letters/situations suggest a colour to me, and that other people cannot understand!
