Black Lions in America

I live in Iowa and we get mountain lion sightings near Des Moines. We get sightings of large black cats which usually wind up being bogus. The difference is someone shot a mountain lion not far from Ames (Iowa State University) but nobody has produced a body of a large black cat. I suppose it's possible but until someone can dart or kill one I will not believe it.
