Yeah I guess I would want to know when the world ended..
I would be kinda sad that my life would end at the age of 16 though.

I guess I'd party like it's 1999 or something

If someone comes up to me, and says "doomsday is inevitable, do you want to hear when and how or why?"

Then sure, I wouldn't mind, then I can at least mentally prepare for my inevitable death

I have always wondered why people want to "personally" know their future, that is, by going to palm readers, staying in tune with the horoscopes (horrorscopes).

I mean, let's say a palm reader says you will die a tragic death involving a car accident, giving a specific time period that this would take place. So, the person avoids cars for that period, locking themself safely away in their living room, until this time period passes. But, lo and behold, as they are in their easy chair watching their favorite show on the TV, WHAMMY, a car, having lost control outside their home, comes crashing through their house and flattens them while they are setting, safely in their living room.

Bottom line: When it is your time to go, there IS NO WAY of avoiding that! regardless of what prior information you may have obtained.

it seems to me from reading about near death experiences, that many who experience this believe they are given a choice wether they would like to continue their lives.

but the whole saying "the world is ending" needs to be clarified.

is this meant to say that humans are not going to be able to survive some cataclysm (no matter where they hide or what bunkers they have?)

or that the earth is going to blow up?

If a great threat to the world is coming i think we would all want to know if there is a chance some of us could survive it.

In reality the amount of disorder that a "head's up would give" is not likely to be allowed to seen the light of day. it would be surpressed , and the messenger discredited. Of course on the other side of the coin, that won't stop many people from trying to sell books as they take "shots" in the dark trying to sell the "end of the world".

I would only want to know if there was some way we could survive. If there is no way of surviving then what's the point in knowing in advance.

I would be scared for my kids, My little boy who's 7 is terrified of the weather at the moment. If it gets really windy, he starts to panic, and he's always asking about tornado's, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcano's etc. I try to re-assure him that we always have bad winds in the winter, and the UK rarely gets tornado's, but he's still terrifed.

So if we were told that there was going to be some huge event that would wipe us all out, Imagine having to try and keep yourself calm over it, let alone your kids!

My mind is split over this scenario, having listened to all of the arguments over planet x, and loads of other catastrophe predictions for 2012, I think if we are going to go on that date, then it's not going to be quick, like a fast impact. I imagine it's going to be a long drawn out affair, and that we will know some time in advance.

For the sake of my kids, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing will happen, and there will be nothing to know about!

The World is going to end, it's only a matter of time. Would I want to be informed if it happened during my lifetime? Yes. I already feel it coming, it would be nice to know how much time I have so I can plan. If there are only 4 years left are you going to go to college or are you going to spend it around people you care about?

I agree with the original post, i think spending all your time being paranoid or reading doomsayers is a bad idea. I would think having your survival gear and supplies ready is as far as anyone could go, and then it should be out of sight, out of mind.

If by chance one of these doomsday theories on ATS was correct and their was no way to stop our impending doom, would you want to know about it in advance? Personally, I think I would rather just live my life blissfully unaware until that day arrived. I don't know if I could be happy living my life knowing I was going to die in an asteroid strike or something in a few years. I would rather just have it happen one day and be done with... anyone else out there have an opinion?

Dear b309302

In my opinion, yes I would like to know when the ßell would ring.

I would have a chance to tell my loved ones goodbye, empty my bank account and max all my credit cards...

It`s just like Hurricane Katrina, in New Orleans, people had time to flee and do things, unlike the Mega Tsunami where a lot of people did not get a chance to do nothing except drown to death.......

I`d like a few moments to think and maybe let the mad animal that resides inside of me be set free...

i wouldn't sit back and wait for the moment to come though. I would want to go down with a fight, even if I have no chance to survive.

Well, I hate to tell you buddy. Any plans for me to stop smoking or drinking daily have ended. Also I eat greasy, salty foods and sweets. So this "Doomsdayer" is talking the talk and walking the walk. --------PC

I already know that the world is ending, at least for me, anyway. I'm not immortal, and one of these days, maybe even sooner than I expect, I'll be dead. At that point, all of this goes away and nothing will matter anymore.

I don't know specifically when the world will end for me, as none of us do. I may have another 30 years or so to live, but probably not a lot more than that even if I avoid an accidental death or pick up a killing disease.

I can't do anything about it other than live day to day. The same would be the case if somebody said an asteroid or solar flare was expected to wipe us out in 10 years. I could give up now if I wanted to, also. But just like most people, I have an animalistic drive to stay alive as long as possible.

Unfortunately, if doomsday was to arrive sooner than expected, life would get more difficult for me because so many other people would go nuts and panic and riot in the streets. I could easily live peacefully if I knew for sure that the world was ending, but I'd like to be able to keep it a secret from everybody else. I don't see where them knowing would do me any good.

If only I were to know, hell yea i would want to know.

Can we say "world traveler"anyone?
And all of a sudden my tastes would get really refined

I would buy a very nice sports car, a very nice bottle of wine, and at the final moments, head into it driving a very fast speed on a nice Arizona highway.

If I was hit by a truck or astroid, it makes no difference because I will be dead in either case. I wouldn't not be inclined to know ahead of time in either event.

Just think if they announced tonight that an astroid is going ot hit us and we will all die in two weeks when it hits. You would not be at home counting your blessings or making quality time. You would be fighting to stay alive because our fragile society would crumble over night into anarchy. I say just don't tell us.

Would I want to know if/when the world was coming to an end? That's a good question and it's obvious from the postings everyone has a slightly different take on that scenario.

My first reaction was sure, why not? But. then, I vacillated. Yes...no, well, maybe. Then I thought...if knowing would make me live my life differently then perhaps I'm not living my life the way I should right now. Hmmm. Food for thought.

In the end, (no pun intended) it doesn't really matter. My "world" has been pretty exciting so far and I can't see that changing after I die. The actual "end" might be a little freaky but it'll be over in a blink of an eye so....no worries.

"Survival of the fittest, Only the strong survive." - Mobb Deep

So there's no way you can stop the impending doom?? But surviving it is a different story. Because that's where all my 6 sense's would be at! Depending on the time allowed, my mind's firing on all cylinders in order to save my arse and anybody else who wants to come with. Even if everyone said there was no way of surviving, I'd try my all.

If there is 1 solid irrefutable piece of information we can get from this website, it is to know your "getaway" plan backwards and forwards. Have in mind the tools necessary to embark on the path to the unkown. The stars being your guide and God on the sidelines. Man Up! But personal opinion aside, there is no excuse not to have an exit strategy........

Why apply acute thinking towards such a grand plan? Speaking for myself, I want to be a part of the new consciousness, whatever that may be.....An evolution of Man. A dismissal of time interpretation through an ascension of dimension. Integration of "external" life, etc.... Whatever medium Change chooses to arrive as, I WANNA LIVE. Logic impedes intuition no more. Let it go......
