Oh i almost forgot. I know im gonna get attacked by this but some of the most ignorant people i know are the most religious people i know. Most people around here where i live who attend church regularly think that their **** doesn't stink and believe that because they go to church that they have some sort of magical force field that protects them from evil.

Some of these people think they are better than you if you don't attend church or believe in god and will be quick to point out your "sins" like having a child while not married and will criticise your decisions or preach to you.

What gets me is that when something good happens to someone who is religious it is a miracle from god, yet when something bad happens it was perpetrated by the devil. You know good things happen to bad people as well. An example would be that a man has a successful heart surgery that will extend his life by about 10-15 years. In his spare time he enjoys molesting children and now he has a second chance to continue to do it for a few more years. But why would such a person be granted a miracle?

A final thought. If there are so many religions and so many gods, which one is the real one. If all gods existed at once then they wouldn't be gods but rather just more advanced beings who either work with or against eachother or both. If there is just one then why are there many religions that conflict each other. And if this is so it means god is cruel and wants us to kill each other.

Whatever the case i am a non believer and i guess the advantage would be that i do not hate any persons of any race or religion. I do however dislike ignorant people.

So if you like go be a soldier of Christ or whoever else you want. I will remain as a soldier of humanity and untill we all think that way we will just continue to slaughter each other.

I don't want to bust your bubble, but you do realize that Jesus Sermon on the Mount (love the neighbor, etc.), etc. is almost a direct word for word quote out of the book of Dhammapada - centuries before Jesus was supposedly born.

"God" landed in a spacship eons ago and collinized this hell hole called Earth. The idea of the Sumerians makes complete sense and the two gods Enki and Enlil, especially when juxtaposed with other cultures and beliefs.

For the Christians, you do know that Abram (Abraham) was a resident of the city of Ur (Sumerian City) according to Jewish texts. At the age of 15 he was taken to the temple by his father Tara and told to chose a god. The text says he forsook the gods of his forefathers and picked a new God - Jehovah (Enlil). Funny how Abram may have been slightly biased when passing down his beliefs from this god to Moses, etc.

Religion is a parasite that destroys people and their thirst for knowledge outside the box. Religion kills its host through blind faith either spiritually, mentally, financially, or physically. Religion IS evil...

In theory this is all good. My neighbor who goes to church regularly has a jesus fish magnet on his car and a "jesus loves" bumper sticker is the same guy who says hes going to slit my dogs throat if i dont stop it from barking and the same guy who yells and swears at kids who may accidently enter his yard while playing.

If ALL religious people practiced all aspects of their religion that pertained to the getting along with other peoples, this world would know no violence.

Love thy neighbor? Sure! Unless he kills my dog.

Freud has shown that love thy neighbor is impractical and could never happen given mans emotional and mental makeup. Freud is kind of goofy, but has some good things to ponder over.

In Eutopia love thy neighbor would work, in reality some one will always be thinking about how they can F&%* someone over for profit or power...

Agreed, and organized groups who hold too much power that believe in outdated ideas and are against fresh new thinking are a dangerous thing indeed and are the reason we will never have Eutopia.

I do think there can be a balance though, good and evil both must exist and i think when the scales tip to far there must be some sort of automatic natural reset. In our society it could come in the form of revolution or world war. Perhaps balance existed with religion when the average human wasn't educated enough to believe in otherwise but this is changing now and religions are clashing with each other and with modern society and will only get worse as the world becomes more accessable to the average person and the world becomes "smaller".

I have a feeling that in our lifetimes we will see the tipping of the scales, it may be good or it may be bad, but one thing is for sure, it will happen.
The main problem at the moment is making room on the planet for each of us. Up untill now the best method has been to kill each other. An alternative would be to start exploring space, colonization of planets, space stations.

After all it was the discovery of the Americas by the Europeans that allowed us to advance as a society and sparked many discoveries and technological advances and IMO was the only thing that could of moved us forward at the current time. Expansion seems to be the only thing that stimulates our balance and order. When left with nowhere to expand we still make discoveries and advances but we become stangnant so for every new advance we gain a new problem. I view our society in this time as a bubble waiting to burst, either we will advance and grow or we will destroy what we have and will be forced to start over again.
While staying the topic a religious leader in change of a powerful country would only serve as a catalyst for destruction.

That is but speculation. Greeks had devloped a lot of scientific method as we know it, and their society was deeply religious. Arabs are famous for mathematics, astronomy and chemistry (alcohol, anyone?). Don't get me started on the Chinese with their Buddhism and Confucius

Was religion a factor? Who knows. Maybe it was helpful in the end.

No but in our current society we have outgrown the need for religion. Religion was able to adapt for many thousands of years and needs arised and situations changed but now every advancement we make, especially those in the DNA, Genome, reasearch further decrease the need to believe in archaic systems that can't adapt and change fast enough. In other words it is obsolete. Im not saying we can't have a structured organization teaching us values and life lessons and history but this is what we have school for. Religion does not teach us to expand our mind but rather teaches us that relying on the current beliefs will buy you a ticket to Heaven.

Picture this, if you were told you would get a brand new car and all you had to do was devote a little bit of your life and obey a few rules and that was it, would you make any attempt to work any harder to try and obtain one? Hey avoid all the headache of doing it yourself and for a few small inconveniences its all yours.
All you have to do to get into Heaven is to obey a few small rules, you dont have to be smart, rich, work hard, you don't even really have to be nice to anyone you can be the biggest jerk alive. As long as getting into Heaven is your top priority who cares about science, advancement, hard work, if I die young ill go to Heaven its gods will. Sounds sexy don't it.

Those who dont believe however have a much tougher time. I have to work hard to buy the stuff i need to live and stay healthy and don't get killed or die early and leave my family and friends holding the bag. This is the only shot at life i get, there is no personalized heaven for me. If im a jerk through life people will say wow im glad that idiot is dead. If i died never to have worked people would say i was lazy. I would never goto hell but then again i wouldnt go anywhere would i.

Some people dont like to imagine their short life is all they have so they become consumed in something that makes them believe otherwise. And the people at the top of this chain ( who make alot money i might add) take alot precaution to make sure people continue to believe because it is not only profitable for them but also completes their belief system as well. If this requires that we don't advance as a society then that is what happens.

Remember that nobody profits off of you for something if you choose not to believe in it. If scientific advancements were to endanger any religious belief you better believe you would see opposition.

So getting back to topic i propose there be a law that political candidates not be allowed to be biased by religion.

See North America was founded and colonized by immigrants of many different races and religions and continues to do so. The problem is the majority ofall politicians in Canada and the US are all white and mostly Christian and are rarely women.

That being said we can all agree that not all racial and religious groups agree with each other on everything and often there are conflicting beliefs.
The problem with the world nowadays is more people are becoming globalized at an alarming rate and the result of this is the clashing of religions and race and the resurgence of old hatreds that many don't even know what are about anymore.

Stem cell research in the US was pushed back in the name of religion yet Canada has continued with it and has made great strides in it. Here you can have your childrens stem cells saved at birth so they might be used to save their lives later in life. But Canada was not destroyed by the almighty hand of god how come?

The problem is now that we are becoming more multicultural desicions made by our elected leaders based on faith may not be shared with everyone and may begin to upset people.

Say a new elected president says he has proof that Satan lives on the moon and that space is bad and we shouldnt explore it anymore. And then shows us videos and diagrams of how Satan moves around his WMDs around hidden in trains or that cannister like objects observed in pictures were really filled with the essence of pure evil, some people would likely believe it while others may not it would just divide everyone. Maybe thats a little extreme but similer things have happened.

Making a desicion based on faith does not please everyone but one based on facts and morals would have a wider acceptance.

We have a guy in our city who runs for mayor every year who wants porno mags and rap music banned from shelves in our city because they are instruments of the devil.

One of the keys to brainwashing to to convince your cult that everyone else is brainwashed, and only they are the ones who can see the truth. It makes them feel special, elite, and privileged, and they see you as the one granting them this station, granting you more sway over them.

Personally, I'm anti-Christian because I've studied and practiced it, and put time in with the read-and meet to study its Abrahamic relatives. The entire group disgusts me because it's a religion made by masters to control slaves. "Be humble and servile and meek," abrahamism tells you, "endure your suffering with grace and always thank God for his abuse, and maybe you'll get to enter paradise for eternity after you die. Your conditions in THIS life are unimportant, just think of how good things will be when you cease living - if you accept your place!"

Religious bias is already well-couched in code, just as political racism is. a politician can rant about the "International bankers" and the "welfare state" - but if he said "Jews" or "Blacks" (which is exactly what he's saying anyway) he'd be ridden out on a rail. Same with religion. "Because the bible says so" is bad, "traditional American values (shared by white anglo-saxon protestants)" is okay.

But seriously it is getting out of hand on just who they are letting run for prez these days. Im not American and seriously i honestly don't know how Bush got elected twice.

I know we hear alot these days about anti Americanisms by countries outside the US and its not that people hate the US or it's people it's just that our media tells a different story than that of the US. The US govt has made alot of mistakes in the last couple of years and everyone else knew about it from the very beginning. But you watch a US media newscast and they will generally say thats things are ok.

This is largely to blame on the election system these days. Its not just in the US but generally most people aren't educated in politics anymore and just see what they read in the paper or on tv. This is everywhere but the US is a perfect example of what can become of it if left unchecked for while.

There must be a better filter for political candidates and a better system to educate people on reading up on political platforms and how it relates to them and then give people a reason to vote again.

I hope the MSM gets ahold of his speech and runs with it. I'm sure someone had to have recorded it.
