This goes much further than just selling secrets:

Following 9/11, a number of the foreign operatives were taken in for questioning by the FBI on suspicion that they knew about or somehow aided the attacks.

Edmonds said the State Department official once again proved useful. “A primary target would call the official and point to names on the list and say, ‘We need to get them out of the US because we can’t afford for them to spill the beans’,” she said. “The official said that he would ‘take care of it’.”

The four suspects on the list were released from interrogation and extradited.

source

as for any doubts about the whistle blower (same source)

The US attorney-general has imposed a state secrets privilege order on her, which prevents her revealing more details of the FBI’s methods and current investigations.

Her allegations were heard in a closed session of Congress, but no action has been taken and she continues to campaign for a public hearing.
In researching this article, The Sunday Times has talked to two FBI officers (one serving, one former) and two former CIA sources who worked on nuclear proliferation. While none was aware of specific allegations against officials she names, they did provide overlapping corroboration of Edmonds’s story.

One of the CIA sources confirmed that the Turks had acquired nuclear secrets from the United States and shared the information with Pakistan and Israel. “We have no indication that Turkey has its own nuclear ambitions. But the Turks are traders. To my knowledge they became big players in the late 1990s,” the source said.

This is a huge can of worms and someone really needs to get to the bottom of it - it seems to have been going on for quite some time.

Whichever you spin it, this is just plain wrong - especially when you consider the volatile nature of pakistan and the amount of extremists in the country and that's before we even mention Israel.

shrub has been banging on about Iran and nuclear weapons (I don't think we need to go down the iraq wmd road) yet he and his predecessors have been selling (vicariously) nuclear secrets to some of the most dangerous countries in the region.

We may need more than one bullet.

So true. If one chooses to belive Ms Edmonds (it is her word against the machine) there is alot of explaination which needs to be forthcoming from the governement. This is not a NIST report, but an allegation of spying and treason at the highests levels of that governement.

And one stinking article from the entire American MS press would be a good start IMO. (no slight to the Baltimore Chronicle)

Until there is an open hearing or she just goes ahead and spills the beans without regard of the consequences there may not be another bullet.

What is encouraging is the Times corroboration of the story - they're usually pretty good about that - rupert doesn't want to get sued.

True! The Rupert aspect is troubling to say the least. And I read that the defamation laws in the UK are strict so no names, but online journalists have taken the first steps in putting names and faces to the dots. We should probably name them here for any readers. Stating that they are speculation based on reports -innocent until proven guilty of course but named none the less.

However if no MSM media attention comes out of this , I suppose no one in the entire Nation of 300+ million will say a peep.

Here is an initial list and photos (at site link) of suspected names associated with the allegations.

Current and former Pentagon and State Department officials...

Richard Perle
Douglas Feith
Eric Edelman
Marc Grossman
Brent Scowcroft
Larry Franklin

Current and former congressmen...

Dennis Hastert (R-IL), Ex-House Speaker
Roy Blount (R-MO)
Dan Burton (R-IN)
Tom Lantos (D-CA)
? (Photo simply a box with question mark in it)
Bob Livingston (R-LA), Ex-House Speaker
Stephen Solarz (D-NY)
The 3rd group includes people who all appear to work at think tanks - primarily WINEP, The Washington Institute for Near East Policy

Graham E. Fuller - RAND
David Makovsky - WINEP
Alan Makovsky - WINEP
? (Photo simply a box with question mark in it)
? (Photo simply a box with question mark in it)
Yusuf Turani (President-in-exile, Turkistan)
Professor Sabri Sayari (Georgetown, WINEP)
Mehmet Eymur (Former Turkish Spy Chief MIT)

www.bradblog.com...

There may be some question as to Lantos's inclusion from independant sources other than Ms Edmonds. All names obviously are innocent of anything until a proper forum and hearing can be found for the accusations.

And supposedly the international press has started to pick this story up. Grandma in Grand Rapids will have to wait for it however as America is 'slow' on any uptake.

Sibel Edmonds is telling the truth and has been proved truthful by many polygraphs and the FBI invesigated her story and found it reliable. She was placed under a State Secrets order so she could not talk: NO US nes outlet would touch the story due to corruption. Finally a Brit paper had the guts to print it.

Sibel risks jail for violationg the gag order: It was illegal anyway and only meant to protect lawbreakers. The State Dept. is full of treachery so deeply that Edmonds found many proofs of crimes. 9-11 in involved, and if what she knows comes out, heads will roll: IF that is, we still have a system left that has any semblance of honesty,

Sibel is the real deal, and has been fighting this battle for years. It is time for the coverup to end.

EyeWit86,

Make sure you flag this and pass it on, this needs to get to the ATS front page - and if not this OP then another concerning the story and late MSM reaction.

I find it astonishing that no mainstream US publication has run with this - the implications are incredible.

I'm not sure I am going to believe one whistleblower but if true, whoever sold the secrets should be shot immediately for treason.

Agreed. If this is true the guilty should be rounded up and executed on National Television. How so many can sell out their own country is beyond me. "We the people" need to take our country back.

I am not surprised. Saddened, but not at all surprised. They are too busy following Britney and Paris.

I've submitted it to several other online sites as well. Time will tell if we can get this issue raised again.

There have been so many nuclear weapons scandals the past decade it is quite alarming, and in the end you wonder why one hasn't actually gone off yet.

*The Los Alamos lab scandal
*Jonathan Pollard and the Israeli nuclear spying scandal
*Khan in Pakistan
*Litvenko in London, who was apparently a buyer's agent (the polonium was no accident, it was a message from Putin)
*the B-52 nuclear cruise missile flight scandal

And now Edmonds reveals a Turkish-ISI-Mossad ring that's stealing US nuclear secrets with impunity and selling them off to whomever ponies up $250k a "package," abetted and later covered up by corrupt US officials.

It all makes the head spin. And now Pakistan is on the brink. Iran looks relatively innocuous in comparison to the implications of this list.

The axis of evil and rogue states are clearly not the nuclear proliferators and doomsday boogeymen they've been caricatured as--I'm more worried about us and our ostensible "allies."

Still no movement that I can find in US mainstream press, but I did come across this
which would be funny if it weren't so serious.
There's also some background
from a couple of years ago.

In this piece from Nov 2006, Sibel Edmonds writes an "op-ed" piece which gives more background.

Actual Representatives of the US Congress named. Household neocons named? An ambassador and major player at State named? Still nothing from the American media - no nada?? This story has something for everybody - and its got no legs! Amazing.

This has everything from long term selling of state secrets, to 911 coverups, to restricting freedom of information and yet people don't want to get involved.

Perhaps I misjudged ATSers.

Its not really anybodies fault as I see it, I ATS search Sibel Edmonds and then have to go to page II of those results just to get back here. (without linking directly to it that is) Plus as the story has dribbled out, ATS has older posts from 2000'+ which have since dried up. So unless this hits MSM and starts some fire it will be only those few soles who stop in.

Its crazy though. Dont forget the probable drug connection, the Grey Wolves connections, all that # runs deep into conspiracy world, even to the Masons. This story touches all the bases and is possibly why it is a non starter. Its neat actually that it has no legs as somehow that fact legitimizes it temporarily, until a larger hearing on its facts can be made.

However you are right as this is not a photo of a UFO, or theory on world domination, its an x-fbi counterintel translator trying to do her civic duty - at least on the face of it.

I wonder if the State guy Grossman employed by the R. Cohen (old clinton sec def) is rounding the PR wagon around their guy. And Scowcroft - this story has it all.

Budski-

38 posts and 16 Flags. Not bad for the backwaters. Even if all the lousy commentary is mostly ours.

I dropped a heads up into a front page OP (Pentagon Releases Video of Iranian Boats Confronting US Warships). I didnt think it would derail their thread, and loosely construed thier topic could be seen as related - at least in the sense of covering a legit informational event with a sensational non event around the same timeframe.

Thanks for the help scrapple - it's a pity this didn't get more attention, but it's a fickle ole world.

I guess people didn't see this in the same light I did (and yourself)

I hope this hits the mainstream soometime soon, and maybe gets revived.
