The girls were well-liked and made good grades at Lewisville High School. Their father was strict and rarely let them spend time with friends. When Sarah, 17, recently met a boy at her job, she told a friend that her father would kill her if he found out.

Friends are now rethinking the way they understood that turn of phrase.

We get this often in the UK and it's quite disturbing when you read about as their whole family will be involved these girls own brothers and mothers will stand their and let this happen to them or even help in the act of killing their own flesh and blood over the idea of how they're percieved by their community and 'honour', Which is depraved as their is no honour in taking anyones life for such deluded reasons.

If i was ignorant i would solely bash the islamic faith here and say these things like this prove that it is inherently a racist and intolerable faith but obviously you can't tar everyone with the same brush for a members actions, also it seems the issues are more deep rooted than just faith as it wasn't that long ago athiests were burnt for heresy by christians. There's a distinct lack of education and deep underlying problem in humanity as a whole that keeps barbarism like this alive and well in the 21st century.

Hey SR, I guess it will start up more frequently here in the US the more these traditional thinking people move here for the American dream. I witnessed some abuse years ago while I worked and lived in Egypt.
I was shopping at the oldest Bazaar called Khan El-Khalili in Old Cairo and as I was walking out of the place and towards the main road to catch a Taxi, I witnessed a group of people screaming and shouting at a very young woman maybe late teens age. She was then thrown down on the street and by her hair while she was on her back was dragged up the street and the people surrounding her were kicking her.
I wanted to intervene but a stranger (local egyptian) stopped me abruptly and said very quietly not to get involved because it was a family squabble and the people that were dragging her were all family members.
He told me she was caught in the act of propositioning a tourist. He said to me if I would have jumped in then all he** would have broke out with me as the tourist even if it wasnt me, wow!
This was the first time I ever witnessed this cruelty to another human being and I felt helpless to do anything about it, I was shocked into the reality of this religion from this event.
