come on dude be serious the whole world is not going to attack the US.
theres no realism in that statement, too many countris rely on our consumption of their exports and it would be a detriment to them to take out their number one customer.

we are like microsoft and the world is a PC there are a few MAC's and Ubuntus out there but not enough

I am up to anything, but have a favorite sause that I made while living in SC. Everytime we do have barbecue we have a friendly bear that attacks the garbage can to get at the left overs. Hey we could use our friendly bears at the front line using my special sause.

There is some big issues with these questions you've raised:

Please elaborate on the "whole world would die" part. I don't think it would affect many countries ability to survive one bit. I don't know how much America exports to the rest of the World because everything is made in Asia now, but I'm sure it would affect the economy somewhat.

Your second statement is blatantly egocentric. Do you think America is running the World right now? Is this only because other countries were dooped into believing there was a good enough reason to go to War? America might have more than some other countries in the World but to suggest they run it...please.

I'll preface this by saying that I live outside of the USA but I have spent spending long periods of time living, teaching and simply traveling for fun. I quickly learned to see how little "some" Americans know about other countries or at least up until the War. Some Americans know a lot, that is clear, most I met had no idea about other countries and cultures and I saw that mainly in children.

I mean no disrespect to anyone, I love America and I enjoy going there when I can but the first comment assumes a bit too much.

Now, back to the hypothetical question that was asked.

If America was wiped out no doubt surrounding countries would take over the land. I like to look at this in comparison to a Zombie theory in a movie I watched. If a country was wiped out by plague then the threat was neutralized, people from other areas would no doubt be either relocated there by choice or simply other people would claim the land There would no doubt be some sort of Allied military effort on their behalf helping maintain some sort of order.

You're lucky that GW Bush only has a short period of time left in the Oval Office or this might happen

I don't think the US population will be up to much. It is mostly all talk hype and hyperbole about how they'd all see off a modern army invasion with their small guns and shotguns based on patriotic virtues and rallying to the flag and all that BS. Lot of them wouldn't even be able to get off their Lay z Boyz lounger to even get the gun, lot wont even even know a takeover had taken place because paris hilton was on the tv. Its a nice image, you all sticking together like 1775, to fight off the invaders.. but truth is, if any did come out to fight it'll be more like a scene from monty python peoples front of judea fighting each other while the invaders ( romans ) looked on laughing.

Your best chance are the urban militia gangs, the blacks, the mexicans.. what chances thou these people could be persuaded to fight for the other side . Pretty good if they get offered a deal. The US and UK use differences within factions to fight their wars, the world isn't so stupid not to do the same . How many will see a foreign army as a liberating force.. a real one ? .. not like the pretend version in iraq, I bet quite a lot.

Well, I have to disagree with you on this statement. While its true that a war in a land across the Sea isnt enough to get me off of my gaming chair but an invasion of my home sure as hell will.
I dont know how close things would be to the fictional overly dramatized movie Red Dawn but I can safely say that with even a small percentage of the at least 150-200 million gun owners in this country resisted, any Invaders wouldnt be able to occupy much of this country peacefully. Those good ole boys in the South pack quite a punch as well as the people up in the Northern Idaho Mountain area, It would be Fallujah on a State or Region wide scale.

You are a people of sound bites, small instructions you can easily understand , you might get a few people out in the street with their shotguns , but they wouldn't know what to do, they would just run around shouting 'we gonna kick arse' and not really knowing much . A few would be outside with the rednecks for 5 mins to show willing then go home to the big chair to see what the fox news sound bite says. Your showing in allowing a second hitler surfacing and your police state laws hasn't instilled much hope in your ability to avoid being controlled successfully.

The US is the most superpowerful country in the world, China the second, Russia third and India fourth superpower country in the world. An alliance of those 3 counties is enough to begin a WW3.
Think about it is possible, non fiction. Even if the European Nation helps us, no other country would help America becuse of fear them getting attack.

Most of the theories that I've read from various sources on how the initial invasion would take place, mostly agree on one thing, an invasion would most likely come via Mexico and Laredo Tx would be their point of entry.
The reason for this is to take advantage of the 8 lane highway that begins in Laredo and slices right through the center of the country.
If this is actually how an invasion would begin, then I dont think that I would even survive long enough to become part of any potential counter-attack or insurgency group.
I live about 2.5 hours directly East of Laredo and there are a at least 2 major Oil refineries and oil reserves, within about half an hour from my home, so there's no doubt about my fate.

See this kinda brings me to my point. All you hear about is the bad bits. People are going to focus on the worst. It is only natural.

But there are two sides to every story.

Everything isn't all that it seems, or all that it is cracked up to be.


We are in the limelight right now, deserving or not. And the people in the limelight get judged, fairly or not.


But I think people from all over, just have no idea what really goes on here, or what it is really like.
And unfortunately can only go on the information they are given.

Because we are more affluent, it is only natural to assume that we have everything. That we are happy. That we want for nothing.
Which is far from the truth.
So despite having all our crap and amnemities and comforts, we crave a simpler life. A slower and quieter life. National healthcare. More time off just to be normal. Anything but the intense rugged race that we have to run day in and day out.

And of course people are going to get a good taste of hollywood, which is nothing like the average American, nothing like anyplace in the world.
They are elite for a reason. Because they are so different.

It would be like me assuming that everyone in Belgium knows and loves how to make great chocolate.

At what price? Total devastation. Any way that you cut this, it would be a lose-lose situation. Yeah, they would have attacked "bad, eeeevil America," but 80% of the world would also be layed to ruin.. You can rest assured of that.

Limelight isnt exactly the phrase, it is more a case of forcing a nation and it's values upon everyone else regardless if they want it or not , limelight .. that adds a glowing effervescence to the effect you want to portray , pity it is not the case with the nations you rob in the name of free trade, I would like to see one nation you profiteer from call you anything of a limelight description.

You must be crazy to think you are in this 'limelight' , that is what you call the scorn of the world ? Based on what I read here on these threads you would almost think many people, a majority of which happen to be American, would love nothing more than to see the US to crumble.

Many of these people in their pure unadulterated hatred for Bush actually have a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type mentality.

They are aka the Islamo Fascist sympathyzers aka as the Useful Idiots. These are the people that are destroying the country from within and unknowing aiding and abedding the enemy. Little do they realize that soon they will be forced to convert or die and in the process give up two of the very things they love the most, music and art.

Some here will find hegemonic stability theory interesting,just google it. It will help explain the anti-american sentiment that seems to be prevalent around the world. It will not prove or disprove any ideas, but it will illuminate the conversation. Bascally, it is balance of power theory on an international scale. I would describe it better but, I am sure the websites can do better job.
