I think that the truth about our origins is lost forever. For example, can someone tell me why, we humans get sunburned or can actually freeze to death? It makes no sense if you believe in the story of evolution. Natural selection would have insured that all of us could survive on the planet with nothing more than what we came in with...just like the apes. The problem is, we cannot survive like the apes, we need shelter, clothing, medication, etc.

My guess is that the entire planet was once a single temp - no harsh winter, no harsh summer - just one temp, all over. Something happened, wiped out most of humanity and left only a few....these few decided that they would start over and set a course for all of humanity to follow - the bible......Jesus......all of it.

I base my opnion on the fact that I should not have to put on a winter coat and bundle up to avoid death in the winter....something happend on this plant in the not so distant past that changed our climate and gave us cold winter and hot summers - the apes have it better than we do if you stop and think about it. They are perfectly made for this planet - they need nothing to survive....besides some good eats.

Well certainly if we can find solid evidence of advanced technological civilizations previously on Earth what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'm not 100% convinced that this is the case, but there's a lot that occurred in antiquity that makes me think this is a real possibility...

You aren't looking at this in the proper context of evolution. I am no Fan of everything evolution but ask yourself if you are not living proof that what you came in with is all you needed. Do you not have an air conditioned environment in your home during hot summers? Do you not have a 40,000 square ft grocery store on just about every other main intersection where you can buy fruits meat bread milk and honey or just about anything you can possibly enjoy. Do you not have a heated home in winter? Our survival has not had it's adaptations in such creatures as you use in your example using apes. Apes can't survive in most places where humans have used irrigation and land development to alter the entire landscapes of places that were once deserts. Phoenix AZ, Las Vegas Nevada. Where apes have fur to keep them warm they are limited by nature to stay in a climate that is conducive to there survival. Apes have nowhere near the intelligence and resourcefulness to survive as well as their human counterparts. Humans have always relied on there resourcefulness. If we needed a special adaptation to exist, we would come up with a technology or some method to make it so.

You do however bring up an interesting point and it is a distinction only HUMANS have. That we are unique in our use of technology to gain such a solid rung at the top of the food chain it is almost as if we are the only thing on this planet that really doesn't belong.

Our weapons from war to hunting game leave that as a joke of a "sport" while other predator and prey seem to have attributes given them a somewhat level playing field to survive. We can use sonar, infrared, pheromone bait, laser scopes on high powered rifles to kill an animal such as a deer, that has not evolved whatsoever to defend themselves against our technological advances.

Perhaps Mr. Amikta Stanford would enjoy a much more intelligent explanation to his assertions about good and evil from a place that bears his name. plato.stanford.edu...

The only thing I regret about going to that website is Ill never get back the 45 mins of time I wasted reading that bunk

I don't even think that place rates good science fiction. No offense but I am just not that easily impressed by oracles like Amikta when his writings are too easy to discredit while others is all this metaphysical mumbo jumbo he calls "certain energies" . They aren't certain if the only description you can come up with is as vague as that.

Good responses to my questions so far, thanks everyone. It is an interesting topic that I wish we (humans) could devote more resources to - I think that finding out where we came from and how we evovled is more important than a lot of things that we waste our time and money on.

I do understand that we humans have adapted our environment to our needs and I know that our keen intelect has enabled us to rise to the top of the food chain and outsmart our prey....however, something just seems off a bit.

After all, before we invented modern weapons - all we had to defend ourselves was our feet, fists and minds....how on earth did we survive? The average ape compared to the average human is 8 times stronger - they should have dominated us when they had the chance - yet somehow they did not and here I sit wrting in this forum instead of swinging from a tree in search of insects to eat.

Too much history is missing and left to our imaginations - we all should realize that we know enough to say that we know nothing at all.
