Nothing to be fascinated about. Every nation has its share of uninformed and informed people.

It may, however, serve as a source of caution, whenever anyone decides to get too overzealous and patriotic. There are good reasons why the US is not the greatest nation in the world.

Brilliant :-)

And there was me thinking I knew nothing....
I wonder what the results would be if you asked the exact same questions but in every other country of the world.

What's the odds on some of the "3rd worlders" getting more correct than the Westerners?

Uh, why is it subtitled? Is our accent that hard to follow? Like when they dubbed Mad Max with genuine American.
Yanks . . .

I'm sorry but this is really old... like probably 2004...

plus if anyone says that Americans are ignorant after watching this, they are the ignorant ones.. basing your opinion on 5 minutes of edited footage is just stupid...

ps. i am not American

Wow, a non-American actually saying that...never thought I'd see the day.

I'm so, so sick of this video. It's EVERYWHERE!!! and people overseas are still eating it up and sounding just as ridiculous as the people in the video when they generalize a nation of 300,000,000 into a 10 min. video of idiots.

BTW, who's the genius who flagged and starred this?!?

Alicia Silverstone had to come to earth to play the role of a stupid woman in the movie "Clueless", but with this video I am ashamed to be associated with being an American if people come to kill us on the grounds of being apathetic towards our place in the world. I am surprised they know how to get to the 7-11.

Im not going to watch it, but I will offer this:

If people are making judgement about Americans based on a 5 minute viral then they are doomed to wallow in ignorance

If Americans are making judgements about a whole group of people based on the acts of radicals then they too are doomed to wallow in ignorance.

The point? As mentioned above, every nation has within it individuals that are an embarasment and a joke, but if you condem the whole just on the interaction with these few examples are you any better than those few?

I actually thought the video was kind of funny (I am an American by the way). Morons are everywhere and is the one thing that links every nation. My thought is that if an American did this type of thing in another country there would definently be an uproar about America furthering negative stereotypes of other nations. When it comes to things like this video, its what you get for being the best...everyones jealous.

Just another attempt to make the US look ignorant when in fact the whole world is ignorant for thinking they know what's right. That's why I think you should have to know more about your country or even pass a test to vote! It's really scary to know that this world could be a better place if people like that would educate them selfs.

This honestly surprises you?

I don't know what world you're living in, much less what country, but ignorance is malignant on earth. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Sorry.

Must be the most popular video on ATS. How many times has it been posted now?

They don't do a remake soon?

I mean people haven't got smarter. Have they?

I noticed a few things about this video that made me wonder, first, how many did they edit out that got the questions correct, second it was predominantly ethnic, yet there was None of Asian decent that were asked in the video, Does that mean the world dislikes those of Asian descent? Or, more realistically, they got all the question correct?

I know a great many people like these in this video, and it disgusts me, unfortunately the USA is full of specialization, they don't have well rounded educations any longer. SO if it's not the latest pop music or Mountain bike or running shoe, they know nothing.

This is a lot like asking windows users Mac or linux questions, what on the surface seems "common" knowledge, is not always so.

BTW I am an citizen of the USA, and answered all the questions correctly and I'm not of Asian decent

Well, while I can respect that, I think it is something that could be corrected if people were to pick up a book and READ it once in a while. You know?

Seems like there were several interesting English accents so perhaps some of the interviewees weren't American.

I wonder too, how much editing was done to get the result they wanted.

I'd like to sit down and interview the guy with the microphone.

Just questions off the top of my head, nothing particularly exotic, prepared or books taken to refer to.

I'm betting he won't do very well . . . and I'm just an average American....

I gotta ask this,
What is the purpose of this thread other than to encite pro/anti American sentiment. Wher is the conspiracy or the clever observation? This is the closest thing to trolling I've seen all week.

Nevermind,
I just watched that video and those people are so retarded.
They really do make the rest of us look bad.
I wish they would have left those people that answered correctly in the video but it would have contradicted the point they were trying to make.
I mean since when is the MSM fair and balanced?
